A Milestone Anniversary

I never imagined that in my lifetime I would achieve the distance. Today, April 15th, Rita and I are celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary. I am announcing this not just as a monumental achievement but as a successful fight against the odds. I read the dailies about divorce rates being so high an...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

I loved Mrs. Henderson Presents. It told of the WWII bombings and how Mrs Henderson entertained the troops in her underground bomb sheltering building. Another WWII movie is "The Last Of The Blond Bombshells" with Judi Dench and also The Last of the Blonde Bombshells also stars Leslie Caro...

Re: Do You Have Trouble getting others to watch classics?

No real conversation. It was just an acknowledgement - I know who she is. I understand the issue but am disappointed in the loss of history of film and it's stars. Ask any kid 35 and under and they will tell you they never heard of -- John Wayne, Cary Grant, Walter Pigeon, Rosalind or Jane Russel, F...

Re: Do You Have Trouble getting others to watch classics?

While brecovering from surgery I attended physical rehabilitation classes in a healthcare nursing / rehab facility and was faced with a population well over 70 and many over 80. Twice I wore my "Deanna Durbin" T shirt and tested the waters. Only one of the 50 senior citizens pointed to the...

Re: Uncle Stevie

Hi everyone. I am finally home after 6 weeks away from home and my wife. It was pretty serious but little did I know I would have such trouble standing and walking and climbing stairs. I went through some intense rehab excercising and am now back at least to the strength of before. Thank you all for...

Re: Do You Have Trouble getting others to watch classics?

I am beginning to get the drift of all the young people not able to watch very old movies. I cannot understand or watch much of what is in the movies today and I certainly cannot tolerate most of today's reality TV. We are generations apart and find it hard to coexist. It makes me wonder about natio...

Modern Times

TCM showed Modern Times tonight with Chaplin and Paulette Goddard. I must say that Paulette looked smashing and the quality of this 1936 silent movie was astounding.

Lifetime & Hallmark TV Movies

Being the romantic that I am I am overwhelmed by the Christmas love stories shown this year on Lifetime and Hallmark Channels. I am thrilled to see happy endings with little violence and crime. I need peace in my life and have been switching back and forth from one of the four channels to another. T...

Re: CALAMITY JANE

A truly honest review and one that I agree with for the most part. I like Howard Keel but also am a huge fan of Doris Day. Although some of her sappy movies with Gordon MacRae were hard to take. She played in silly movies and serious ones. I really loved her acting voice as well as her singing voice...

Thank you all for your good wishes. They warmed my heart. I got a surprise phone call from FOSSY (Doug) all the way from Australia to me in New Jersey. I was thrilled to talk to him and am equally thrilled at your recognition.

Thank you for the love

Dan Dailey was one of my favorites. Always happy movies with him. Two of my favorites were Meet Me In Las Vegas with Cyd Charisse and The Girl Next Door with June Haver. Both feel good musicals made me happy.
