Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Thank you, Alison, for your kind words about Theresa's and my discussion of Shadow of a Doubt. It was a tremendous pleasure to talk about such a great movie with a dear friend and fine critic. Towards the end we talk about finding more things that we hadn't seen the next time we see the film and, su...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Those magazine cover paintings usually looked not quite like their subjects. I think they were trying to make the dreams look even dreamier and not incidentally, to get the women of America, the World, to spend more money on "beauty" products!

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare

My first encounter with Celeste Holm, though certainly not the last, was on the original cast album of Oklahoma where she was Ado Annie, the girl who cain't say no.

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Wendy, for years I never made it through Metropolis until they came up with a longer version. Still not my cup o' tea, but much better!

Re: Pre-code clips

Thank you, Theresa, for alerting me to this. You know what I really like about movies! And thank you, MichiganJ for doing such a great job selecting and editing. I'm not sure how much these young women or their characters "like to undress", but this dirty old man is delighted that they did...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

"A CROWN OF THORNS" Theresa and Alison, this comment from Kim Novak is a real heart-breaker. To many of us men and women whose looks are somewhat less than "gorgeous", it may sound facetious, but it is true. During the fifties and sixties, the height of her popularity, she was ge...
