A small thank you
As some people here know I have spent the last number of years writing a thesis about the significance of learning and contribution to knowledge in forums such as this. Some members here who I cannot name for ethical reasons were kind enough to contribute their thoughts and ideas to me and for many ...

Re: CANDIDS II
I have to admit I haven't been checking out this thread very much lately but this site is so lonely that I tend to stay away. I don't know about you but it bugs me to post things and never have anyone respond. I look at some of the days on these threads are they go all the way back to 2014. Where d...

Re: Ben Johnson
It looks like Ben but the horse is not Steel. Not even sure it is the stunt double Bingo who from memory has a smaller blaze. Maybe there was a second stunt double.

Re: ALFRED HITCHCOCK
I just wanted to say that whilst I have always loved this movie, I saw Dial M for Murder today on a big screen and in 3D which is something I have never done before. I rather had my doubts that using 3D on what is essentially a one set movie would really be anything to write home about so to speak. ...

Re: CALL THE MIDWIFE
Call the midwife is one of my favourite shows. I love its quirkiness and its willingness to take on quite controversial subjects. There is one early episode that I still cannot get out of my head when Nurse Jenny discovers that the wife of an elderly dying man she is nursing is actually his sister. ...
Re: LONGMIRE
I think the problem is, at least for quality television, that although over 50's have a large disposable income, they are to smart to be convinced to dispose of it by slick advertisers, unlike gullible teenagers. Hence they make films and TV for teenagers because the advertising works.

I am excited already at the thought of writing. Let me know when you are readyperfect! instead of letting critics, "experts" or anyone else, let the films purely interpret the artist.

Re: John Ford
Its a deal, the end is in sight of this accursed doctorate for me. I think we have a them, finding Ford in FordWhen I get settled in Hawaii, maybe we'll tinker with that book idea.
Hawaii wasn't that one of Ford's hangouts?

However if you ever want to try writing something on Ford I'm up to sharing the experience with you :D that's precisely how i feel when watching his movies. i'm part of the journey the characters are on, i can feel, taste, smell and real...

Re: John Ford
That is a terrific article That, ultimately, may be Ford’s greatest “sin,” that he does not make films for teenagers nor undergrads, something that places him totally out of fashion with the current marketing strategy of film production. His films require experience and the patience that comes with ...

Re: John Ford
Paula Thanks for the notification. Its nice to have another twenty days to look forward. That is a lovely, lovely essay and I never did notice before the reason that scene on the gate worked was because they were in sync, dancing almost. Or exactly how Ben vaulted onto Steel, especially the hand on ...
Re: LONGMIRE
Just a hint. I do not ( Yes Lynn Henry has a far reaching influence) wish to upset anyone else but I am not adverse to spoilers if any one wants to post them. I will have to wait a long time wondering what is happening in season 3.

Re: LONGMIRE
I am just envious you can see the third season. I got the dvd's for this show and became absolutely hooked on it. I love a show with a little mysticism and a thread of connection plus complicated relationships through the episodes and this sort of western covers all my favourites plus the cast. Vic ...
