Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
"What if twenty or thirty million women started rationing lipstick?" "But I can't return my 127 tubes of rouge! The Health Department won't let me!" "But do we want to keep hoarding?" "Let's pool our resources -- that's democracy!" Uh-oh, lol. I remember Ging...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I remember reading The Circus of Dr. Lao when I was a teenager. It's a fairly racy book (and a very short one), much more so than the movie. In parts it even gets a little Sinclair Lewisy. I haven't seen the movie in years. It's okay, especially some of the special effects, but nothing special. [/q...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I've got the overly sticky homefront drama TENDER COMRADE on in the background. This was criticized as being "collectivist" because a bunch of women decide to share a house waiting for their sweethearts to come home from WWII. It may or may not be, but regardless, I find this movie very bo...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
To unsophisticated Western eyes, "they" are all Asian and so the same. I remember in THE CIRCUS OF DR. LAO, scruffy old cowboys comment on Tony Randall walking through town. "What's a Japanese doin' here?" (he might have said "Jap") -- "He's not Japanese, he's a Ch...

A MAJORITY OF ONE arrives soon. New York Jewish widow (Roz Russell) develops a relationship with a lonely Japanese businessman. Guess who's coming to dinner? Unfortunately it is not Sessue Hayakawa. I guess we can be thankful that it's not Mickey Rooney . . . Oh God yes. "Miss GoRightRy, I pro...

Rosalie is remembered on QVC as the infamous foul-mouthed caller who could be heard over the phone yelling "Get the f*ck away, I'm talking to Leah Williams!!"
Unflappable host Leah just laughed and told us "Some people are so passionate about what we're selling"

CNN's How It Really Happened: Oscar Pistorious "My lady, it was an accident" Sure. Right. Four "accidental" gunshots . . . It could be even more outrageous. It could have been like that notorious 1980 murder case involving the Lizzie Borden of the 20th century who gave another w...

Baby Chimp Rescue. Our vulnerable furry cousins, so ugly they're cute. A vet and his wife are saving many of them in Liberia who have been orphaned (due to poaching) or mistreated as chained-up "pets". This couple is very dedicated -- a few of the young chimps sleep with them as a bonding ...

Re: Noir Alley
Very creepy scene on a rainy night with the back towards the audience dummy "looking" out a window. William Lundigan, a more palatable version (as far as I'm concerned) of Dennis O'Keefe. I thought Dorothy Patrick was obnoxious as the tabloid journalist. The opening scene shows a woman's l...
