I've been waiting for that one for years. What makes it worse is that I believe a DVD has been available for a while now, but only as part of the $80 super deluxe extended special director's edition of the Pacino film.

Score!

I was digging through the shelves at my favorite used book store this morning, looking to add to my collection of early 20th century pulp fiction, when I stumbled across the companion book to Kevin Brownlow's miniseries "Hollywood: A Celebration of American Silent Cinema." I own the series...

I wish I could take the credit, but it's mostly put together from easily available work done by others.

I do like this much better than yahoo groups though.

Re: Ignatz the Mouse

As far as story goes, it is a cute movie, though Show People (1928) remains my favorite Davies comedy. Too bad Hearst preferred her to be ladylike. I just finished watching this, and I agree that "Show People" is a much better movie (the scene where Marion is showing her "acting tale...

Off the top of my head:

Classic series
Green Acres
Get Smart
The Untouchables
The Prisoner
Have Gun Will Travel

Newer series
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Scrubs
The Simpsons
Futurama
Veronica Mars

I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

You didn't vote! I voted for Bogie. "The Big Sleep" was one of the movies that started my love of classic film, and one of those that I return to again and again. Just about a perfect film, IMO. Back in the 70s I went to a revival theater to see it, and me and my then-girlfreind were the o...

When I saw this topic she was the first one to pop into my head. She wasn't traditionally beautiful, but she just dripped sex appeal. She was an amazing actress as well. Didn't she win an Oscar?

Forum Organization

This is pretty simple, but it probably needs to be said. Moirafinnie was the owner of the Yahoo group, and she is the owner of this forum as well. Her word goes, and she is free to run things as she sees fit (other than banning me :)). Her assistants in moderation are Lzcutter, klondike, and Kyle (i...

I would like a Foreign Film section. Rather than do this, I'd like to throw it open for discussion (and once I'm done with this post I intend to post one on forum organization under "Site Talk.). Suffice it to say that I'm posting this as a user, not administrator. I *hate* the designation &qu...

Done and done so far as Noir and Comedies go. What should we do about people? Just start an "Actors and actresses" forum under Film, and let people start threads about whoever they want to talk about?

Wow, Sandy, that's amazing. I'd love to see that. My first exposure to Griffith was BoaN, and it really put me off of him for a long time. I've gradually learned to appreciate him though. He really was a genius, and he had a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat until the last minute of the fi...
