Re: July 2024 Schedule Posted, Eva Marie Saint is SOTM
I hope Cancel My Reservation isn't one of them! Yes, that's the 1972 one she did with Bob Hope, I never saw it but heard it was a disaster. However she also worked with Hope on the 1956 film That Certain Feeling . In Leonard Maltin's movie guide he gave it a BOMB rating, another movie guide book (b...

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO 40 GUNS???
One difference I notice between Robert Osbourne and Ben M. is that Osbourne clearly loved the golden age of Hollywood and its stars, whereas Ben favors the 70s and beyond and doesn't seem quite as warm to eras before that point. Just an observation at any rate. Eddie, Jacqueline, and Alicia all seem...

Mother Night (1996) -- Based on a Kurt Vonnegut novel, this film tells a very dark tale. MOTHER NIGHT is my FAVORITE VONNEGUT NOVEL (I've read just about everything he wrote- with wildly varying opinions across the board)- but I recall just being BLOWN AWAY by MOTHER NIGHT and every time I am asked...

Two more films..... True Believer (1989) -- The idea of James Woods playing a lawyer with 60s radical leanings is quite ironic from today's standpoint, but regardless of what one thinks of him offscreen, his exceptional, committed performance, considerably better than the film around him, provides j...

Re: OBITUARIES
Loved Dabney Coleman in everything I'd seen him in. Didn't really come into his own until his later years. I preferred him w/stache! Was Dabney his real name? Who would pick that for their stage name? Yes, that was his real name. I'll remember him most for 9 to 5 and Tootsie, but he was memorable w...

Fred Roos, longtime producer of the films of Francis Ford Coppola. Age 89. https://deadline.com/2024/05/fred-roos-dead-francis-ford-coppola-godfather-producer-1235925291/ His last credit is Coppola's new film Megalopolis, which appears to be a jinxed production given that Coppola's wife Eleanor died...

Highlights of the 70s list. Pared down a bit from the other thread's lists that I make to include only the ultimate highlights. Don't forget about the Bebe Daniels film that was incorrectly framed (the top was at the bottom of the screen). And supposedly there was a slip up when Black Narcissus was on too. Maybe they jinxed themselves with the promo saying "we do it right"

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
And Paul Newman's illustrious debut follows: The Silver Chalice! (or as I dub it, The Silver Phallus!) :D Oh, yes, the one that he took a big ad out in one of the trade papers to apologize for after it aired on TV after he became a big star. It's a more interesting film than Warners big Helen of Tr...
