Re: The Greatest Suicides on Film
Yep Fedya, I wondered about that as I watched the end of that clip. And, am now wondering if the print TCM shows includes it?
(...guess I'll have to watch it the next time they show it to find out, huh)

And then and as its original trailer boldly states: "No one word ever heralded such a heart-pounding experience, and because no one word ever charged the screen with such terror, horror, excitement, mystery"...there's... https://www.themoviedb.org/t/p/w440_and_h660_face/izusa2K3Xatwme5Y7cw...

Re: A Glimpse of Golden Age Hollywood
While not an old photo, I loved the following "Glimpse of Golden Age Hollywood" (and in this case about Linda Darnell, starting at the 1:27 mark) that Carol Burnett relayed to Stephen Colbert while she took his Colbert Questionert last week on his program. I think you folks will like it to...

Re: Conquest of a Franchise, or, "Humans see, Humans do"
Actually, it's no big secret. I just located the issue of the L.A. Times that featured the article. The interesting point about the story is that Producer Arthur Jacobs was going to cast the winner of the contest as a chimpanzee in the film, but when he saw the lady, decided he'd rather cast her as...

Re: The Greatest Suicides on Film
Leo. G. Carroll slowly pointing the gun on himself and pulling the trigger in Spellbound . My what a big gun and hand you have. Yeah, the hand holding the revolver isn't actually the most lifelike or realistic looking thing you'll ever see in a movie, is it. https://youtu.be/tRiuo_KlvCk (...btw, ev...

...Didn't hear any complaints about CA after that!! This couple are very nice and fine people, but like so many, make clueless generalizations. Gee, I'm actually kind'a surprised that showing 'em the facts would shut 'em up here, James?!!!! I mean, surely they must've had OTHER reasons for their mo...

Re: The Greatest Suicides on Film
I love the poignant film friendship of Sol and Thorn... Interesting anecdote to the SOYLENT GREEN duo, Dargo, which you're almost certainly already familiar: Charlton Heston eulogized Edward G. Robinson!! Yep, Eddie G. died within a few weeks of its post-production, as I recall. However, there's ab...

Re: The Greatest Suicides on Film
Honestly don't have to double-check: the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena!! (I think. ;) ) Yep, that's it! Or, at least WAS it, anyway. 'Cause as I'm sure you know, that location is now where they would build that stadium where they play that game in which almost all players aren't allow to use th...

...There are some real nutcases out there in the heartland. OH yeah there are and always have been. Now, MY personal little "favorites" of these kind'a folks have always been those who after some natural catastrophe has befallen the state of California, they'll opine the idea that that's ...

Re: The Greatest Suicides on Film
When I hear the opening strains of Beethoven's 6th (Pastoral) Symphony, still to day and after over 50 years of first watching it unfold on the silver screen, I sometimes think back to how Edward G. Robinson decided to end his life in the film 'Soylent Green'... https://youtu.be/SW4-jcTnjLo And now ...

Re: Conquest of a Franchise, or, "Humans see, Humans do"
As a side note, the winner, Dominique Green, was cast in the upcoming Battle For The Planet of the Apes . Wow! Now THAT'S impressive that you know this, Rich! So, in addition to being a guru of silents, you're ALSO very knowledgeable about beauty contestants TOO, eh?! ;) Gotta admit #2 DOES have a ...
