Re: Noir Alley on TCM
“It’s strange that a man can live with a woman for ten years and not know the first thing about her.” — dialogue from The Letter which aired before Decoy. Decoy — Portugal had a certain swagger, and he threw part of his unfinished hard boiled egg on the table and even though the film is in black and...

Thank you James. I’m sort of lost at sea with a lot of the navigation, because it’s new I guess. Failed at the avatar but now I know the thread to find.

Thank you EP ( I can’t figure out how to quote either) for the avatar info. I wrote the four steps down and will give her the ol’ college try when my hands steady up a bit.

Re: Hello Everyone
Well we critique, Mr. Dargo, we watch with purpose and then critique. Remember when Orkey and Sweet Billy kidnapped Ms. Kitty? It was for purpose. Orkey came to the Longbranch and came a purpose.

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
The Lost Weekend is a great movie. It is the quintessential alcoholic depiction. There is nothing phony about it. No drinks were left undrunk. It always turns my mind a bit because Ray Milland was not a drinker, but the role was perfect for him, he pulled it off beautifully. Man, when he’s out there...

Okay then, look at me go. I got to this posting screen all by myself. Isn’t that a man. Dear Moderators, I tried to read all the rules and regulations last night but I fell asleep. I’m happy to find a place to crash and if I go off topic, like I’m prone to do, then I’ll have to be scolded I guess. I...

Re: See Jayne Act: The Burglar (1957)
Okay then, this is the Place. Millstone, thanks for the Goodis links! However, like all of the stuff one reads nowadays, the grains of salt come into play. Goodis was not a drinker, he was not a smoker, and he wasn’t much of a pool player either. He died on the early side because a big brick fell on...

Re: See Jayne Act: The Burglar (1957)
I believe in David Goodis. He is the king of noir fiction, say what you want about Cornell Woolrich, Jim Thompson, and Patricia Highsmith, fine writers indeed, but Goodis has dialogue that’s said without sound. How noir is that?
