Re: The Falcons on Saturday mornings

I’ve been enjoying a lot of these, especially the one that is adapted (only somewhat liberally) from FAREWELL MY LOVELY. One thing I’ve noticed, and this is strange coming for me, because I am Goldstar GAY, but THE WOMEN IN THESE MOVIES ARE FINE AS HELL. Like extra sexy, and they have a very modern...

I didn't realize that - Wikipedia matches that up with the third film in the series, The Falcon Takes Over . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Falcon_Takes_Over (See the Producti...

Haven't seen the movie and missed it this time.
But, I learned in Army training that you never pull the pin on a hand grenade with your teeth. You will damage your teeth even if you succeed.

Always liked Eva Marie Saint. Recently watched Because of Winn Dixie (2005) and she was one of the actresses in it.

Re: Vietnam War essentially ignored - Again!

There are older Vietnam war movies, such as China Gate (1957), Flame over Vietnam (1957) and The Quiet American (1958). 1978's Go Tell the Spartans (Burt Lancaster) is one of my favorites. TCM is also showing a goodly number of fairly recent movies of all types these days, so going back to the 80's...

Re: Vietnam War essentially ignored - Again!

Yes, this is a pet peeve of mine, but TCM ignores the Vietnam war on Memorial Day (3-4 days) and other relevant holidays. Never understood why as there are well over 100 movies about the war in Vietnam. Platoon is on Friday, May 24, but that is the only Vietnam War movie on as far as I can tell. Ac...

Re: Vietnam War essentially ignored - Again!

TCM is mostly a studio-era movie channel. Most of the Vietnam war films were released after the end of the studio-era. Also, many are anti-war films, and it is my understanding most Americans view the Vietnam war as a misguided (at best), conflict by the US government. Thus, showing such films on M...

Re: Noir Alley

This weekend's Noir Alley selection is Bad for Each Other (1953), starring Charlton Heston, Lizabeth Scott, and Dianne Foster. As part of TCM's Memorial Day Weekend Marathon theme, the film has Charlton Heston playing an Army colonel and doctor who returns home to Pennsylvania on leave after servin...

Re: The Falcons on Saturday mornings?

No Falcon this Saturday - war movies in honor of Memorial Day. But, June 1st has The Falcon and The Co-Eds - a really good one. June 8th has The Falcon Out West, which is fairly good. A young Barbara Hale (Della Street) is featured. June 15th has The Falcon Out West, which is my favorite. I kind of ...

Re: I Just Watched...

In honor of Roger Corman's passing I watched his first movie, which is on Tubi. Monster From the Ocean Floor, 1954, produced for $12,000. And so it began.
