Re: I Just Watched...

I REMEMBER ELLIOT GOULD being terrible in another POIROT EPISODE.
I think DAVID SOUL is also terrible though.
So I guess I crossed the two in my mind

Re: I Just Watched...

OOPS!!

I'm an IDIOT.
It's DAVID SOUL- he plays the GEORGE KENNEDY role- not ELLIOT GOULD.

I'm getting old, children....

Re: I Just Watched...

HIBI WROTE: I've seen the PBS Mystery version and it's different than the movie version. I'm not sure which one is closer to the book. The PBS version has 2 other characters: a gay thief and his mom, that weren't in the film version. The ending is a bit different too. The Maggie Smith character lea...

IT'S also interesting to view the film now that I know that EVERY SINGLE SHOT ON THE BOAT that takes place in the nighttime was done ON A SOUNDSTAGE IN ENGLAND! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/proxy/blq8ixv8I_yDiEMfFsIqeBJSRLOkUDb42H0_4uFw5Rq4fiCdhR8UqAKJUBMgEoGO0mxvUcQBealOQWI3z7zRfTCfOUHbZuRgQS...

Re: I Just Watched...

Some of the later adaptations add openly gay characters, interracial relationships, etc. I prefer a re-creation of the actual world of Christie's novels. I WOULD'VE SAID THE SAME UP UNTIL I STUMBLED OVER THIS CHARMING FRENCH REIMAGINING OF SOME OF CHRISTIE'S WORKS FRAMED AS A 70S COP DRAMA: https:/...

Re: I Just Watched...

If you hadn;t guessed, I've switched from EVIL UNDER THE SUN to watching DEATH ON THE NILE on loop. I've seen this film 154 times. SPOILERS i was reading PAULINE KAEL'S review and she makes a point that JOHN GUILLERMAN'S direction is more workmanlike and perfunctory than ARTISTIC or THOUGHT-OUT, an...

Re: I Just Watched...

ONCE SHE FINISHES THE INTRO, THIS REALLY DOES GET INTERESTING, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE GOES IN TO HOW CERTAIN COSTUME STYLES IN THE FILM REFLECT HOW SOME OF THE CHARACTERS ARE "STUCK" IN THE TIME PERIOD OF THEIR GLORY DAYS.

Re: I Just Watched...

Damned if some eps of PERRY MASON are not BAROQUE in their plotting Byzantine, even THAT, yes THAT, that was THE WORD I was looking for. I've gotten too lazy to check THESAURUS.COM They had one the other day about two sisters and one was maybe a guy's dead wife- I don't know if DAVID LYNCH could fi...

it's also crazy how SERIOUSLY they take CHRISTMAS MOVIES, in (checks calendar) MAY.

(like, they don't even have the CHRISTMAS IN JULY "excuse")

Re: I Just Watched...

I would watch PERRY MASON a lot more consistently if there was a viewing option WITHOUT SO MANY ADS. it's on FREEVEE with ads and PARMOUNT + (unedited, I think) but with ads and some kind of weird religious-legal-family channel/Christmas movie outlet via HULU with SO. MANY. ADS. I mute them or I wan...

Re: I Just Watched...

YOU KNOW, my feelings about THE MUMMY and ZITA JOHANN'S performance in THE MUMMY are very much the same- I'm torn numerous times every minute between whether it's wonderful, awful, wonderfully awful, camp, meant in sincerity or tongue-in-cheek- one thing for damn sure, IT'S MEMORABLE and sure has s...

[i ]i mean, full disclosure I've re-watched THE MUMMY (1933) in parts and in full since my review and it's such a nice restoration and there are scenes where DAVID MANNERS just GLOWS he's SO EFFING HANDSOME. [/i] https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.11859ed6ca570d2a7e7ae98fcc06c355?rik=CuWJYT0nqBfplg&ri...

Re: I Just Watched...

LHF, do you (or does anyone for that matter) know why the story was changed in the 1931 movie DRACULA to have Renfield visit Count Dracula's castle at the beginning rather than Jonathan Harker (as happens in Bram Stoker's source novel)? OMG AN UNSOLICITED DRACULA QUESTION!!!!! (I am not exactly an ...

Re: I Just Watched...

on that note, I watched THE GHOUL (1933)- also a PRISTINE PRINT and also on YOUTUBE- this is a BRITISH HORROR MOVIE that featured KARLOFF and is A LOT like both THE MUMMY and THE OLD DARK HOUSE- only really surprisingly violent (despite a low-to-none body count) and some weird comic relief scenes th...
