Re: I Just Watched...

**AND AS FAR AS I KNOW very little of the footage exists or if it does- it;s stashed away, because the youtube deleted scenes are recreations using the shooting script and production stills as well as some clips from THE TRAILER (a lot of cut scenes ended up in THE TRAILER) https://www.youtube.com/...

Re: I Just Watched...

I wonder why all the cuts to [DEATH BECOMES HER]? Time? I enjoyed the film but haven't seen it since it came out. YEAH, I'm sure time had something to do with it, because it looks like a good 45 minutes of deleted footage hit the floor. THE SCENE OF MADELEINE AND ERNEST'S WEDDING WAS MUCH LONGER HE...

Re: I Just Watched...

ALSO JUST THROWING THIS OUT THERE, BUT I was born in 1978 and- I don't know if it's a coincidence or not- but I have not seen HARDLY ANY FILMS FROM THAT YEAR- and the ones I have seen (JAWS 2, GREASE- numerous times and not by choice, SUPERMAN and HALLOWEEN) are almost outliers. i don't think there'...

Re: I Just Watched...

I actually rewatched DEATH BECOMES HER for the first time in YEARS a couple weeks ago and didn't post a review because I didn't want to open a rabbit hole (it's a film i can talk about A LOT), but really- for any of you fans of the movie, go to YOUTUBE and type in DEATH BECOMES HER DELETED SCENES or...

Re: I Just Watched...

Jeanette Basinger, for one, has discussed how difficult it is for actresses in their later careers to play ordinary women. Instead, they play Exaggerated Women. Meryl Streep's later career also has some Exaggerated Women , as in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA and JULIE AND JULIA, as enjoyable as these films...

Re: I Just Watched...

so, I watched DAUGHTER OF THE DRAGON (1931 ) on that certain cable network because I am fascinated by ASIAN CULTURE, MISTILY-LENSED PARAMOUNT "EXOTICS" OF THE 30'S, and OUTLANDISH HORROR AND SCI FI of the 1930s- the last of which this film kindasorta is for about 15 minutes, because DR FU ...

The Academy Award lineup for Supporting Actress in 1978 (and I will loop in wins and nominations from precursors as well) was: Maggie Smith/California Suite*** (Golden Globe win [in leading actress in a Comedy {in a tie}], National Society of Film Critics 2nd runner-up, New York Film Critics 1st ru...

Re: I Just Watched...

ROSALIE "My mother is SALOME OTTERBOURNE, the novelist" JACKIE {drunkenly] "SALOME?!? Didn't she have some fella's head cut off?" ROSALIE [PANICS VISIBLY] "WHO TOLD YOU?! WE BURIED THAT BODY IN LUCERNE!" [realizes what she means] "Oh...you mean from The Bible?&quo...

Re: I Just Watched...

ONE OTHER FUN THING they could have done in the disembarking scene at the end of DEATH ON THE NILE would have been to have POIROT and RACE inform ROSALIE OTTERBOURNE that she has AN AIRTIGHT WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM against THE ESTATE OF SIMON DOYLE which could well result in her becoming the prime bene...

Re: I Just Watched...

also, I hate to speculate, but FANTASTIC AS SHE IS, I get the sense the role came very naturally to LANSBURY and she had A BLAST doing it- the 1970s were kind of the beginning of the whole "you need to suffer and be miserable and lose or gain 60 pounds in order to get a nomination" trend ...

Re: I Just Watched...

Also, the name ROSALIE is surprisingly lovely and tasteful, I wonder if MR OTTERBOURNE talked SALOME out of naming her God only knows what... Eros? Phylandrea? Trellis? Vanity? Clytemenstra? Amaryllis? Apple? would love to have seen her list. LOL! Apparently sanity prevailed. I have a cousin named ...

Re: I Just Watched...

I'll shut up about DEATH ON THE NILE after this (and SPOILERS hereafter) But if I could change ONE THING about the film, it would be to rewrite the scene where OLIVIA HUSSEY finds out that her MOTHER has been shot- as it is it's a tight two shot with her and JON FINCH and she underplays it criminall...

Re: I Just Watched...

I WILL ALSO THROW OUT THAT I LOVE THE CORAL COLORED GOWN WORN BY OLIVIA HUSSEY SO DAMN MUCH, IT IS SERIOUSLY THE ESSENCE OF TIMELESS CHIC, CONGRATULATIONS TO ANYONE FOR LOOKING THIS GOOD AT ANY TIME DURING THE 1970S. YOU COULD PUT ON EITHER ONE OF THESE GOWNS TODAY AND PROVIDED THE FIT WAS RIGHT, YO...
