The Condos Brothers lay down some taps!
You've seen these guys pop up uncredited in some Betty Grable films (Moon Over Miami,Pin Up Girl) and while they lack the classy charisma of the better known Nicholas Brothers, are none the less awesome hoofers known to tap devotees. Thought I might share some stunning routines found on Youtube: Fro...

Re: Errol Flynn
Thanks for posting this Moira! Just watched it - Flynn does a very nice turn in this movie, including a soft shoe number with Neagle. He is in about the last 2/3's of the film. Anna Neagle's got a couple other dance production numbers in this - she looks darned good for being 50 years old!

Re: Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol returns to TV
Leave it to me to put a damper on our holiday spirits. Did this show feel edited to anybody? Abridged? H**L Yes! I was so PO'd with the editing, commercials and popups (I never watch network TV anymore.) Here are some comments posted on the IMDb boards for last night broadcast: The entire framing d...

Re: Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol returns to TV
A childhood favorite, and an adult one too! Just exceptional tunes in this from Broadway veterans Jule Styne and Bob Merrill (FUNNY GIRL).

Re: Al Bowlly - 1930's Crooner
OMG, someone else knows Al Bowlly! I've been mad for him for years! I have a bunch of albums with his recordings. For me he was the ultimate 30s crooner -- I just swoon listening to that lovely, slightly husky tenor voice. ( Hey Paula - well I'm just a recent convert to the Mad About Al Bowlly Club...

Re: *CANDIDS*
Joe, I learned something new about Rita Hayworth today ... she uses a Cigarette Holder when she smokes. I did not know that! ... This is totally caught me by surprise! That photograph was taken in year 1952 after she finished with Affair in Trinidad with Glenn Ford. She dated Tony Martin for a whil...

Re: The whiny thread
Can I whine about something? It appears that Youtube has changed it's layout, and I see no way to sort videos by upload date or view count anymore. Oh well, not that important I suppose, just that I hate that when these visual layout changes are made, it all ends up looking more cluttered to me - an...

Re: Soon to be playing- Our own MoiraFinnie
One question: RO pronounced your first name like the mines of Moria in LORD OF THE RINGS . Is that how you pronounce it? Kingrat - I'm sure our own Moira will respond, but I just had to pop in here because every time TCM plays my favorite film THE RED SHOES I absolutely cringe when RO mangles the p...

Re: This week on SVENGOOLIE...
Hi Red - just wanted to let you know I enjoy reading your posts on the Svengoolie broadcasts. I've been tuning in at 10:00 pm PST just for some giggles (really - I find him quite entertaining) and the start of the films but generally switch off after less than an hour. So I appreciate your letting m...

Re: Soon to be playing- Our own MoiraFinnie
Would there possibly be anyway for someone to record Moira's intro and post it on Youtube? I don't have TCM any more and I know some others here don't have it either. Thanks in advance!

Re: The Wonderful Deanna Durbin
Those in the know have been waiting for December to roll around as the kickoff of the Deanna Durbin Film Festival being held at The Stanford Theatre in Palo Alto. They are showing all of her films - here is the schedule below: http://www.stanfordtheatre.org/calendars/Deanna%20Durbin.html I am a litt...

Re: Dinah Sheridan Railway Children actress RIP
Aged 92 - I'm happy she had such a long life. GENEVIEVE is one of my top favorite British films, and I think her role is the heart of this dear film.

Al Bowlly - 1930's Crooner
I’m sure it was through Dennis Potter’s series PENNIES FROM HEAVEN and THE SINGING DETECTIVE that I was first introduced to recordings of the Ray Noble Orchestra with Al Bowlly providing the vocals. What a distinctive singing voice and style which I thought epitomized the early 1930’s dance band per...

Re: Walter Huston: Lesser and Better Known Work
I just saw Walter Huston last week in a rare Universal title A HOUSE DIVIDED (1931) with Kent Douglass and Helen Chandler. Walter is real meanie in this one! I'll try and write up a short review in the next few days. Here is a "not so short" review of this film which I saw at The Stanford...
