Re: July 2024 Schedule Posted, Eva Marie Saint is SOTM

TCM has posted a partial schedule for July, 2024. In honor of her centennial birthday on July 4, Eva Marie Saint is Star of the Month, her first time. Additional details are available at my schedule information page: http://escapepress.com/tcmsched/tcm_overview.html They have a lot of TBA on the Ev...

Claudelle Inglish! A guilty pleasure. I haven't heard of Blanche Fury.

Re: OBITUARIES

Morgan Spurlock ("Supersize Me") has died. Sad. Did not know he was fighting cancer.

That's an interesting choice. Has she made that many movies? I guess so.

Re: Noir Alley

I guess it was chosen to fit into the Memorial Day theme. In the past did they preempt Noir Alley for Memorial Day? It's really stretching it showing this on Noir Alley. I found the film disappointing and predictable, but worth seeing once just for some of the actors.

Re: Vietnam War essentially ignored - Again!

It's odd. Since I don't like to watch war films in general, (I rarely watch anything on Memorial wknd), I haven't noticed this. It's probably a political thing. Safer not to cover it as the POV of a particular film may upset some people.

Re: Vietnam War essentially ignored - Again!

TCM is mostly a studio-era movie channel. Most of the Vietnam war films were released after the end of the studio-era. Also, many are anti-war films, and it is my understanding most Americans view the Vietnam war as a misguided (at best), conflict by the US government. Thus, showing such films on M...

Re: Noir Alley

I just saw it a few months ago on TCM. I think I'll skip it. It was ok. Not really a noir.

That is only the case if one is a kicker for the K.C. Chiefs. One who is "straight" supposedly, but I'm not convinced. https://www.current-affairs.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Harrison-Butker.png You mean no one with hair that good could be straight? A devout Catholic. The worst kind. (...

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO 40 GUNS???

One difference I notice between Robert Osbourne and Ben M. is that Osbourne clearly loved the golden age of Hollywood and its stars, whereas Ben favors the 70s and beyond and doesn't seem quite as warm to eras before that point. Just an observation at any rate. Eddie, Jacqueline, and Alicia all see...

I know there are people who like the TCM hosts.
I can do without them.
AI just might change everything.
I like the lady's voice at the end of this spot:

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO 40 GUNS???

[ Like I'd tune in because Dave Karger is hosting the segment? I'd be ok with no presentations at all. Rarely do they tell me anything I don't already know. I've come to the point I can't stand the Mank anymore. The others I can take or leave, they don't bother me as much. No one could ever replace...
