Re: She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
I know this is an old conversation but I was looking at old threads and included this one and I have to say Paula how beautiful those screencaps are. I particularly loved the ones comparing the films to Remington paintings. Reminds me ( if I neededit) just how beautiful this film is. I saw this film...

Re: This Is the END
Some of the movies mentioned always leave me distraught. Just about every death in THe Searchers including Scar's is monumentally disturbing, although for deaths that you never see Martha's and Lucy's must be two of the most disturbing ever filmed. From The Princess Bride, when Wesley is mostly dead....

Re: *CANDIDS*
That is a great picture of Boom Town but you cannot help notice how tiny, petite, downright skinny, anorexic Claudette Colbert was. And that suit is loose on her

Re: Unique episode in an old TV western
MIldred Natwick made anything better. I always liked the story that John Ford yelled at John Wayne for messing up the first take of her death scene in Three Godfathers because he was so busy watching and admiring Mildred act that he forgot his own role. As I love the old fifities and sixties western...

Re: *CANDIDS*
Its quite amazing how many photos there are of Cary Grant and dogs, and not just with the dog but interacting with it. He must have really loved them. Which makes him all right in my book!!!!!!

Re: Strange movies are appearing
get more sensitive to violence on film with each passing day. Yes, some stories are about murder, gunplay and fisticuffs. That's OK. But I'm not sure there is ever a need for extreme suffering. That's not story. It's sensationalism. Just shoot the bad-guy and move on! I could not agree more.I know ...

Re: *CANDIDS*
Apparently Widmark did not appreciate being referred to as "Dick" and blatantly said so to Duke, thus setting the prevailing cool tone between the two for the rest of the shoot (which is sad since they played so well together in the picture). So do you think taht maybe the blooper in The ...
Re: HORSES
Losing horses is always a painful experience. You never forget them (or the pain). I don't sell my horses so I know what it feels like but Buck was ucky to be well looked after. Its good to know that Robert Taylor was really terrific with horses. I read about him in Alois Podhajsky's book about the ...
Re: HORSES
I think Buck was not always the best behaved horse in the world but Lorne Green loved him. This is a very funny Youtube with Lorne Green and Dean Martin (attempting) singing on horseback. Lorne is riding Buck. Buck has his own views on who is the star. [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIIHPJZ...

Re: *CANDIDS*
I am very sorry taht Peter O'Toole has died. I was lucky enough in 1989 to see him live on stage in Jeffrey Barnard is Unwell in London. It goes without saying he was fabulous. It was basically about a drunk journalist (type casting maybe) almost a one man play but not quite. There were four other a...

Re: My new foal
This is "Chrissie" on her second morning. Its an Australian abbreviation for Christmas, because she is my Christmas present. She is doing well and so is mum. Her legs were a little wobbly yesterday but much stronger today. Her father is a clydesdale (like the budweiser horses) and those le...

Re: My new foal
BTW, you have chosen a line from one of my favorite Yeats poem, “The Cloths of Heaven," for your signature line! Thanks Moira. I remember at school we were forced into doing Yeats and I hated him, then somewhere as I got older, I started to see things in the poetry I never understood before th...

My new foal
first.jpg I had a new arrival last night. A bay filly with two white socks on the back legs and a snip on her nose. Mum is a thoroughbred and dad is a clydesdale. :D :D :D :D :D She arrived about two o'clock in the morning, no dramas thank goodness. She is drinking fine and her mother Georgie is ok...

Wow. That is a great picture of Judi Dench, who is just about my favourite 'modern' actress ( a sad indictment).
