Re: Someone's having a birthday!
Thanks to all. And a very happy birthday to you, too, Wendy. And, Larry, in about an hour, my wife and are getting the brushes out and attacking that little canvas we live in! Nancy, I'm here a lot... just being a good listener. Nice balloons, Erik. (If you were female, a comment like that could get...

Re: Someone's having a birthday!
I've missed a lot of birthdays here lately, and for that I'm truly sorry. Here's hoping everyone had a special, fun-filled day.
Happy Birthday, Larry. Time to go have your birthday suit pressed. If it's anything like mine, the wrinkling is horrible!

Friday it will be 41 years for us. Each morning, when she leaves for work, I say, "Have fun storming the castle!"

Re: What are you reading?
Just finished reading Les Miserables and it was quite an effort. Lots and lots of unnecessary verbiage, but the story (when you can find it) is very good. I'll appreciate reading Dickens more now, but as for Hugo, I consider myself the Victor... pun intended.

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Our local theater presented two Christmas classics this past weekend. They showed Miracle on 34th Street and The Bells of St. Mary's each day all weekend. It was a treat to see them on the big screen. We're hoping that they keep up this tradition next year with other classic holiday films.

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
I would like to take this moment to wish everyone here a very happy Thanksgiving. I know we all have something to be thankful for and this is a special one for me. Twenty-nine years ago today, I became a father. It was one of the best days of my entire life and I am very thankful for the opportunity...

Sad to hear of Tom Clancy's passing today. One of my favorite authors. I will miss the continuation of the Jack Ryan related stories.

I'd always heard that Humphrey Bogart got his break in the movies because of his resemblance to Dillinger.

Re: Game of Thrones
I've heard a lot of outrage expressed at the violence in this episode, but it is following the books more closely than other sections of the mini-series. My daughter and I are watching this together... don't worry - she's 28. We've already speculated as to what the final episode has in store for the...

Re: What are you reading?
Finished reading The Unforgiven by Alan LeMay. I enjoyed it very much. Several plot differences from the Lancaster/Hepburn movie, but the overall story and tone were there. If you liked the movie or just Westerns in general, I recommend this book.

Re: What are you reading?
Nancy, Alan Lemay also wrote The Unforgiven which was the basis for the Burt Lancaster/Audrey Hepburn film. Have you read it, too? I might like to try it and see how many changes happened to that script.
