Re: SPORTS

My guess is the talking heads have an itch for gambling. The money goes where it goes then the predictions and talk come in later .

Re: SPORTS

I find the the spin on Rogers sort of fascinating. All the talking heads, who last year seemed to talk down at Rogers, this year he is the greatest QB ever born and NY can’t possibly live without him. How could they, he is so great and knows everything there is to know about football, life, and pers...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

Well you know how the term southpaw is attached to left handed pitchers? (Laffite would know) Baseball diamonds are built around the sun and all built direction wise the same (or they used to be before the domes) and that is why.

Re: Greetings From a New Member

I used to be, back in the day, a fine critic of film noir. If somebody left a drink undrunk at the bar (or anywhere else) I would spot it and point it out to Dargo. Nowadays it’s hard to see. There is a lot of blur. I don’t mind, the health food store slash pool hall keeps me busy with the noise. I ...

Re: Greetings From a New Member

Now, at the health food store slash pool hall we also deal in metaphors. Nobody knows what that means either. A lot of bikers will come in and say, “Give me a metaphor.” I usually say What brand of metaphor? Of course they all want the strongest and best tasting and fastest acting metaphor. “Menthol...

Re: Greetings From a New Member

Now one should not confuse irony with the vitamin/mineral iron. A lot of people do. I work at a health food store - slash pool hall - and motorcycle bikers are always coming in confused at that. They say, “Give me a bottle of them irony pills.”

Re: Greetings From a New Member

Now if it becomes ironic, that means you ironed it good and sprinkled water on it before you ironed it. You will need an ironing board for this.

Re: Greetings From a New Member

Welcome Lily! I am watching "Twentieth Century" right now starring the fabulous Carole Lombard. She's one of my favorites as well. In fact, today TCM is celebrating her with an entire day's worth of her films. I think my favorite Carole Lombard film is "My Man Godfrey," but I al...

Re: Top Ten Robert Ryan Films

Robert Ryan is a dangerous dude. I think it was Odds Against Tomorrow (loved Shelley Winters in that one) with that scene in the bar (Ryan has some dry cleaning I think) with that guy from MASH. Ryan can exude pent up violence better than anybody.

Re: poetry

Now he’s been around. 58 years old. Been writing sh1t ever since he sat down at a desk. Couple years ago he revisited everything, edited up good everything, quit the hard booze, and lived on Hamm’s beer and potato chips. I don’t know him personally, I don’t want to know artists personally, but my gu...

Re: poetry

I want to tell all you poetry people that there is a new poet on the block and he will make you bleed drops of blood on the kitchen floor. His name is Hugh Blanton. His book of poems is titled A Home to Crouch In. It is published by Cajun Mutt Press. This is a true work of genius. I ordered my copy ...
