My favorite part of the film is when she's brought in for questioning and picks up the coffee cup.

I thought it was great that we actually got a shot of the inside of the cup. "Sorry, no more coffee."

I always felt the ballad from "Once Upon a Time in the West" (1969) was one of the most beautiful tunes I ever heard:

I love BA as well, but my first introduction to him was not one of his films. It was his book on his friend George Sanders "A Dreadful Man". I thought it was a fascinating read and went on to check out his films from there. He was not just a great actor, but good writer and nice guy to boot!

Hi Dewey, I saw it in the 70's with my Dad (on TV I think) and I remembered it was good, but I can't remember that much about it. I was pretty young at the time and I thought Glenn Ford was great in this film. However, as we get older sometimes we don't feel the same about things we liked as kids. I...

Well, the Stars might not be around if they don't get on the ball! They might be headed to the golf course early this year.

I like a lot of different kinds of films. As far as what to recommend to a TCM viewer who mainly enjoys classic films: 1. Millers Crossing (1990) A nice little homage to the gangster/noir genre. This film borrows bits from "The Glass Key", "Third Man", and other classics, but sti...

I felt that Tetley's son was nessacary if only to show what kind of a monster his father was, and how his nature created a son that was in fact, spineless like himself. Unlike his father, he is not attempting to hide his nature. Moira, glad you understand it's not personal. Totally agree about the s...

Affair in Trinidad (1952)

Rarely screened Rita and Glenn Ford film. Comes on Tuesday.

I have been begging TCM to show this for a long time because I want to see it. Has anyone seen it and what did you think?

Great post Sue Sue. After all that, I don't know what I could possibly add except that "Out of the Past" is the cornerstone of Noir because it contains all the elements and works them to perfection: Crime Voiceover Flashback Light and Shadow Camerawork Femme Fatale Doublecross If your stud...

That's OK with me. If anything it might lure in people who normally won't watch a film in another language.

Broken Blossoms is an incredible film that shows Griffith's restraint in letting the characters dominate the frame instead of his camera.

It's a beautiful film and would be a good choice for someone who is just getting into silents.
