I like them all but I think my favorites are "Seven Chances" and "Our Hospitality." Of course, they are the ones I have most recently seen. I'e been getting some therough Netflix and it looks like they come from a complete set of Keaton films. If I remember from Amazon it's in th...

Rusty: I just finished watching Danger UXB for the first time since it was originally aired. I had a grand time looking for what the actors had done since then. The man who played Cpl. Salt ( and the one I had the most trouble understanding) most recently played Pompey Magnus(?) in HBO's "Rome&...

Favorite Comedy Scenes

A group of my friends are having a movie night next month and everyone is supposed to bring a movie or two with their favorite comedy scene. (Yes, I've been invited too.) It has to be around five minutes or less. I had a big hit with the slapping scene from "Vivacious Lady" at our previous...

Anything resembling a reality show. In particular "Wife Swap" and its variations. "Deal or No Deal" and its variations because it's not about getting anything right but about the "drama" of getting anything right. You couldn't pay me to sit through "Idol" or &...

Rusty: I noticed that too. It's been awhile but I also wondered why she took such a fairly small part (as I remember it.) I know it's possible she was on the backside of her career. Could it have been a failed attempt to make her look younger? I thought the idea the movie is based on is quite good. ...

I only knew about the set because I've rented some from Netflix. I've seen "Whiskey Galore" (you almost need an interpreter but it's a nice film) and "Passport To Pimlico" (lovely idea but not as much fun as I remember it) and I'm waiting on "The Titfield Thunderbolt." ...

Hollis: Jon answered this in another thread so you might look around. From what I remember the Outbox is where the mail is waiting to be picked up ny the person receiving it. While there you can make changes to it. Once the receiver picks it up it is not available for modification. This makes it &qu...

Yes. At some point they have said all there is to say. It is not to lessen the importance of the event but how many times can you say the same thing. They can go away and come back unless something else is worth interrupting The most annoying thing, for me, is the incessant showing of the same video...

Whether it's the best or not I'll leave to all of you but my favorite soundtrack is John Barry's "Dances With Wolves." I love the way he writes.

Anne: I think the Audie Murphy version is running on the Westerns channel or Retroplex this month. I saw it listed once but am unsure about future showings. I never could understand the fascination with Dietrich's voice. Wasn't there an affair with Stewart and Dietrich? They seem an odd pair in real...

They are wonderful. Such talent. People tell me I have lovely handwriting (for a guy) but I can't draw worth anything.

They really are very good.

Have you seen "Midnight"? JB stars with Claudette Colbert and Don Ameche. It's quite funny but it hasn't been on in awhile and I don't think it's on DVD.

So, why did I bring it up? Just in case.

Absolutely, right down to the brothers. Bruce Dern could be an idiot version of Ike Clanton. How many comedies actually have a killing in them? A few but not many. Seeing Garner sitting out on the porch of the Sheriff's office with his foot on the rail also reminds of Fonda and the post in "Cle...

I love the line in "Sheriff" when during the mud fight Hackett says to Garner "Do you want to grab something?" And he replies "Everything looks to slippery."

I mentioned it "over there" - Who would have that Jack Elam could be funny?
