Re: Frankenstein
Thanks! It was a lot of fun trying to remember some of the cartoons in which Frank shows up!

Re: What Horror and Sc-Fi films have you seen lately?
I'd also add the remake of "Planet of the Apes" to your three. If you are referring to Tim Burton's remake, I suppose I'd agree, although parts of it are fun. Last year's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which is more of a re-imagining of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes , I thought was ...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I saw The Beasts of the Southern Wild , and there's no doubt in my mind that Quvenzhané Wallis will be the youngest person ever nominated for best actress. All of the performances--mostly, I believe, from first-time actors--are terrific, and the direction, by first-time director Benh Zeitlin, is als...

Re: Coming Up on TCM
I have Comcast and I have the opposite problem with one of my DVD recorders. I can record the HD channel but not the standard def. I do use an HDMI cable coming out of that machine and haven't tried the RCA cables out. The good thing is I have another machine that records on the SD channel. This is...

Re: Coming Up on TCM
DirectTV added the TCM *high def* channel overnight! Is that why, for the first time, I received a "You cannot record copyrighted material" message when I tried to record some of the OOP movies on TCM yesterday? Apparently this often happens when DirectTV upgrades channels to HD, although...

POSSIBLE SPOILER: ( Is this the film where she meets Jack the Ripper? ) POSSIBLE SPOILER Yes, Pandora's Box is where she meets Jack. One of the unfortunate things about the print shown was that the opening credits listed Gustav Diessl as playing "Jack the Ripper" instead of just "Jac...

Re: Frankenstein
Despite it being made up of, maybe, 75% stock footage, the remaining 25% of Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster is truly horrifying. NASA has created a humanoid (named Frank) to pilot a rocket to Mars. Unfortunately, aliens think the ship is a nuclear warhead and explode the rocket, sending "F...

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
This weekend I finally got to see Louise Brooks on the big screen in Pandora's Box . As many times as I've seen the film, it really was a new experience. And, of course, Louise didn't disappoint. There's always something new to see in how Pabst tells the story. This time, for me, was how he physical...

I really was just goofing around with these and am very happy that they are being received so well. Thank you, everyone. I loved your music selection ( so important in doing these videos ) which provided such energy. I had fun trying to guess the names of the actresses. Ha...I guess you were square ...

Re: Giallo
I thought I'd post a review of one of my (and Tarantino's) favorite gialli films, Seven Notes in Black AKA The Psychic (1977). These multiple names for giallos gets confusing. Make sure you check for The Psychic on DVD and not just Seven Notes in Black . Seven Notes goes for $69 on Amazon; The Psyc...

I love all of the Lewton's, but The Seventh Victim is the one I return to most often. (It may be tied with The Body Snatcher.)
