Re: MANUFACTURED ON DEMAND

another break in the program for another dumb? question.

If I want to record 2 items on 1 disc, what speed do I choose for each? If LP is 6h6m (which happens to be the time for 2 movies) do I choose that one for each item? Or will the first movie record at a slower speed, and use up the whole disc.

I'm sooooo confused.......

I'm having a hard time finding the specs for your unit on-line. How many recordable speed options do you have? Like the old VHS units, SP generally means about 120-minutes recording time on a standard DVD+/-R disc. On my Sony, LP is double that, so 240-minutes. EP is 360.

If on your unit, LP means 6 hours total recording time, and the two movies you want to be recorded add up to a running time of six hours, then you need to select LP for both.

Of course, like VHS, the quality of the recording is reduced with the longer recording times.

Hope this helps...

Yes, it does help! I couldn't figure out if one movie would use up all the space by recording at a much slower speed. As me Pop used to say, "girl, you're overthinking it!"

thanks, Mish

My dad used to say the same thing to me. Different gender usage of course.

amazing what they choose to roll out first.

i'm hoping the "various retail outlets" they mention knock down the prices. i still cannot believe
what these people want for a DVD-R with no special features.

but, it may be the only game in town for certain titles i want like some unreleased gene tierney
pictures and maybe a ford or two.

Looks like the elusive Strange Affair of Uncle Harry starring George Sanders, Ella Raines and Geraldine Fitzgerald is available as a M.O.D. here at Amazon.com:

At $12.99 it's a better deal than the Warner Archive discs though I can't be sure of the picture quality.

And it's a great film April, one of the movies that have really surprised me in these last years. The plot is absorbing, interesting and unusual, and it's well performed.
