OMFG!!!! Person of Interest totally rocked last night!!!!!!!

We got more clues about John Reese's past and, in what could have been a throw away episode about backstory, instead became riveting television with two major pay-offs coming at the end that probably took most viewers by surprise. This is one of those rare shows that delivers the goods to its dedicated viewers. Plot points going back to the pilot were given shout-outs, depth and resolution. :D

*****************************THAR BE SPOILERS****************************************

In this episode we learned that back in the early days of the Machine (2010-2011), Finch didn't put the clues together of why certain numbers kept coming up. It was only later he realized that it was because the women were in abusive relationships and the danger they were in was from their partners/husbands. One of those numbers belonged to John Reese's childhood friend/true love, Jessica.

We saw at the end of the episode that Reese and Finch had a brief encounter (no, not that kind) at the hospital the day Reese found out that Jessica had died in a car accident. And we learned that Finch had been tracking Jessica, her husband Peter and Mr. Reese. But Reese was probably so shocked at the loss of Jessica that he probably didn't pay attention to the man in the wheelchair (Finch) that he bumped into. Was Finch in the hospital, in that wheelchair, because he was recovering from an earlier brutal encounter with Jessica's husband (and murderer), Peter? As Finch was in a wheelchair, when he recovers is this why he has his limp?

And now we know why Reese was such a mess when we first met him in the pilot and why he is slowly finding himself again working with Finch.

And we learn that Reese isn't the killing machine that Carter has been led to believe he is. He deposits the truly guilty who will likely go free in the justice system in a prison down in Mexico. It looks like Reese didn't kill Peter when he figured out that Peter had killed Jesscia but deposited him in that same federal prison where he's probably keeping company with Jennings (this week's modern day villian) and the date rapist from episode #3. Or did he really kill Peter? We still don't know but it raises an interesting aspect to Reese's story.

And Carter saw a side of Reese she's never seen before and seems to be moving, albeit slowly, closer to siding with Finch and Reese which would put her against CIA specialist (and former Reese boss) Snow and the FBI agent who bears a striking resemblance to Brent Spiner.

And, in the end, Finch and Reese, two broken men with trust issues, forged a stronger friendship.

And with Stanton's return last week, it lays the foundation for what will likely be an edge-of-our-seats season finale.

Can't wait. I love this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LzCutter: HOUSE Pilot FYI

Lynn:

Sorry to change the subject, but if you're still hooked on House, you might be interested in seeing the pilot if you've never seen it before. There is an off shoot channel named CLOO that shows a lot of older mysteries. This week, actually on May 9, at 3:00 p.m. CLOO is showing the pilot of House. I just saw the listing for it and I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner to give you a little more time to prepare for it. Maybe you can set your timer before you leave in the a.m., to tape it.

Touch had its season finale this evening and I have to say, it started slow but each week it pulled me in. The whole idea of how one thing can touch so many lives is an intriguing premises that the showrunners really pulled off. Keifer Sutherland is terrific in a role that is 180 degree turn from his previous Fox role as Jack Bauer on 24.

The supporting cast was aces and though most of them seem left behind in NYC, the thought that Maria Bello may be returning as a recurring character next year certainly raises the stakes for me for next season.

I don't think there was a single episode that didn't leave me with either a catch in my throat or a tear.

Next season it will be on Friday nights which may be the kiss of the death.

But I'll be tuning in and if memory serves, so will kingrat!

If it is in reruns this summer, check it out. You won't be disappointed!

I'm about two weeks behind on posting this but the season finale for Person of Interest lived up to all of the good episodes that preceded it. The twist, we thought that Reese would be the cliff hanger but they turned the tables on us and put Finch in danger when we discovered that the endangered Person turned out to be not in danger but Root and

and she has taken Finch!!!!

The last shot was of Reese on the streets of NYC, talking to the Machine, determined to get Finch back.

Why isn't it September yet?

Read an interview somewhere yesterday with Mark Harmon. The show gained 1,000,000 viewers last year - it's 11th season. That puts it over 18,000,000. (I'm not a regular but you have to admire their ability to keep growing on a show that old.)

Make that 1,000,001. I got sucked in one day when I caught an episode on USA over the Summer.

I still don't have all the characters straight, much less their backstory, but Mark Harmon sure has that quiet, Gary-Cooper-meets-Joel-McCrea thing going on around the edges of his Gibbs character. Also like the Israeli Mossad gal who's about to bail out of the show (hope they don't kill her off). I doubt if I'll watch it all the time (the violence is a bit much for this wimpette), but there's much to like among the characters. I see why people watch.

I assume CERTAIN PREY was based on John Sandford's popular book. Did Harmon play Lucas Davenport?

I watched the show faithfully since day 1 and its has the right chemistry of everything, action, drama, comedy, and little bit of mystery and suspense. Its gritty, charming, and full of energy too ... This show is a powerhouse and I feel its will stands on the test of time and I am a big fan of this show and like three characters on this show ... Gibbs, Ducky, and McGee. I do love the antics of DiNozzo and Sciuto. And, of course Ducky ... one of my favorite character on this show and he is better known to us Illya Kuryakin from the The Man from U.N.C.L.E. show. Of course this is Ziva last season and its sad to see her go.

I can see this show lasting another 2-3 seasons and call its quits ... its all depends on Mark Harmon and Mike Weatherly ... continual involvement ... if 1 or 2 of these characters wants out - I can see the downfall of this show - somewhat significantly I may add.

David,

MrC and I were out of town last weekend (hello, pyrex and Morro Bay!) and just saw last week's eppy of Homeland.

OMG! You were so right! That was by far the worst episode of the series so far. After a terrific start to Season 3 (and lots more Mandy! YAY!), this episode brought the series to a grinding halt whenever Claire Danes wasn't on the screen (which is roughly over half the hour-long episode).

How did Brody (who looks terrible bald) get from the US-Canadian border down to Venezuela? Why was he gut shot by Colombians? Where did the creepy guy in the tower of desolation learn medicine? By the 20 minute mark we had quit caring it was that tedious.

A serious misstep for what was starting out to be a very good season. We can only hope that we don't get anymore like this.

We saw a promo after Masters of Sex (which was great and made up for how awful this episode was) where Rupert Friend who plays Quinn (who I thought would be the one visiting Carrie and not that dweeby lawyer) was talking about the opening scene of the season with Quinn prepping for that hit down in Caracas. That made me think that maybe the guys holding Brody aren't connected to Carrie but maybe Quinn?

Of all the questions raised in that episode, the only one that matter came from a five minute filler promo featuring Rupert Friend.

Go figure.
