Fascinating stuff indeed. WG, I enjoyed your bio of George Raft. Now, you've given me another book to add to my shopping list. I'm enjoying these posts, even though I'm sending in the majority of them on my 3G mobile phone (an exercise in frustration if ever there was one). Thanks!

She lights on that, and this, and tasteth all,
But pleasd with none doth rise and sore away..."

My pleasure, Joe. These are topics I thoroughly enjoy talking about. Actually I gave a talk about 30s gangsters to a law class at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas ten years ago and found it a most interesting experience as younger people seem to have a fascination with the subject. But I confess I've also received some flack from readers of my "Dustbowl Desperados" book because I've explored some theories that I feel have merit that have added controversy to long-accepted beliefs - some of an "official" nature. Nevertheless, I felt they should be mentioned as they add an intriguing dimension to the life and crimes of these outlaws .

So glad you enjoyed the Raft bio. Thanks for the kind words.
