Agreed. I have yet to see a Wheeler and Woolsey movie that was bearable. I recently watched one of their films that got a few raves on another classic movie list (unfortunately the title escapes me) and I never laughed once. I have no idea how on earth they managed to make films for several years in Hollywood.

Much of their humor seems to stem from their characters' abilities to annoy people out of their wits. They succeed at annoyance, but not at humor.

In the UK we had several music hall entertainers, who teamed up on special occassions, calling themselves The Crazy Gang, which included acclaimed double act Flanagan And Allen. Though they had great success in the theatre, I'm not sure the transition the Gang made to the movies was all that great.
