A party pic from Mighty Joe Young to celebrate the end of 2016. (I'm not sure how much I'm looking forward to 2017, though.)

Hopefully no giant gorillas will be crashing your festivities tonight. :)

My New Year's Eve is the same every year. I watch a movie downstairs while hubby snoozes upstairs. When midnight arrives, I run upstairs to give him the first kiss of the New Year. AWWWWWWWW! ;)

Sorry I've been absent -- busy busy! But I have posted some things to the Fan Page, starting with screencaps from "Quaker Girl," Ben's second Gunsmoke episode, recently released on DVD. No surprise, he plays another villain, but at least the episode gave him the opportunity to show off his riding and roping skills. But not in a nice way -- he roped a fence and a wagon, to pull them apart and terrorize the gentle Quakers who won't give up the person he's looking for. Great guest stars (besides) Ben in this episode -- William Shatner, Timothy Carey, Tom Reese and Ben's Monroes co-star, Liam Sullivan.

Finally, some news....

I'm sure you've all seen the TCM Film Festival announcement that the 2017 festival will screen The Last Picture Show. Looking forward to seeing that on the big screen again.

Also, I have finally made a Facebook page for the Ben Johnson Fan Page. There isn't much there right now but I will be posting both on the website and on FB from now on. Here's the address if you'd like to like/follow the page (I hope you will): https://www.facebook.com/BenJohnsonFanPage/

Hi, Sue Sue! Yup, April is coming up fast! Yay! ;) I hope The Last Picture Show doesn't conflict with something else I really want to see. ;)

Here is today's pic, from Rebel in Town (also posted at https://www.facebook.com/BenJohnsonFanPage/?fref=ts)

Here are two pics from The Train Robbers I posted on the fanpage last week, and today's pic, a print made from a publicity slide for Bonanza: The Return (that's Michael Landon, Jr. with Ben in the latter).

Dredged up from the archives, an article in the August 7, 1992 issue of The Lakeland-Ledger (FL) newspaper about the premiere of the "Wild, Wild, Wild West Stunt Show" at Universal Studios Florida. A group of beloved film and TV cowboys, including Ben, appeared at the opening ceremony.

It's Oscars week! Though, to be honest, I don't care as much as I used to. My favorite movies probably won't win and some of my favorite movies didn't even get an Oscar nomination. But our man Ben won himself an Oscar (and he deserved it, no reservations there) so now is a good time to post a picture of him with the shiny little guy.

Image

I'll have one more Oscar pic later this week. :)

Mighty Joe Young publicity photo. A not so great modern reproduction print.

This is from a 1973 TV movie called Runaway! about a runaway train. The other actor in the photo is Bing Russell (Kurt Russell's dad).

I recently spotted Ben when I ran my print of THE NAUGHTY NINETIES (1945). He drives a barouche that brings Bud & Lou to a casino.
