It's that super busy time of the year! I actually uploaded the screencaps from my favorite Monroes episode, "War Arrow" to the BJ Fan Page a week ago but haven't had time to post some of them until now. Anyway, this is my favorite episode because it's about a secret that affects Ben's character Sleeve, and Ben gives a wonderfully poignant and affecting performance. I would also like to mention Anna Navarro, who has almost no dialogue (and her few lines are not in English) but beautifully conveys love and strength through facial expression and body language. Ben's good friend, director Robert Totten, and D.P. Monroe Askins also give it their all. Some of the interior shots look like Old Master paintings, and the majestic landscape of the Tetons is gorgeous.

I screencapped the entire episode, not just Ben's scenes, because I like this one so much. :)

Hard to believe this show was on the air in 1966 -- 50 years ago. I mean, I *remember* 1966.

SPOILER WARNING: The screencaps pretty much give away the storyline.

Yes, that's Morgan Woodward on the left. He'll always be Dr. Simon Van Gelder in Star Trek to me... or Punk Anderson in Dallas....no matter how many westerns I see him in. ;)

Image

Of course, Liam Sullivan will always be Parmen in the "Plato's Stepchildren" episode of Star Trek to me, too.

That's Ben's good friend Dub Taylor on the right, playing ranch hand Cyrus. Dub's son Buck would show up in later episodes of The Monroes.

If only they'd remastered all the episodes from the original elements and released this in Blu-ray. It would be so beautiful.

I think the lighting and composition of this shot so striking. They're in such completely different worlds.

So glad you like the screencaps, Sue Sue!

And now something for your spook-tacular Hallowe'en, a publicity still from Terror Train.

Sorry I've been gone so long -- sometimes it's hard to find time to do all things one wants to do, like post screencaps. Anyway, I did screencaps for three more Monroes episodes and while I posted them on the Fanpage, I haven't done that here. But now I will do it. ;)

Ben did not appear in the next five episodes after "War Arrow," but finally came back for "Range War," where the Monroe family gets mixed up in a fight between Major Mapoy and his men and the nasty Wales family. Here are some "Range War" screencaps. You can find the entire album at https://benjohnsonfanpage.shutterfly.com/tv/39476.

I finally have time to finish up posting pics from Ben's last two episodes of The Monroes, so here goes. First up, "Manhunt." Sleeve has grown a mustache!

Ben's last Monroes episode, "Teach the Tigers to Purr," one of the series' more comedic episodes, with Ben, Clayt and Kathy dealing with a major irritant -- Major Mapoy's bratty ward Tim, played by Ron Howard. Ron's father Rance and little brother Clint are also in the episode. At one point Tim zaps Sleeve in the head with a pea shooter!

I wish they'd found a way to include Sleeve in the final episode "The Ghosts of Paradox," but the only Mapoy character in it was Buck Taylor's John Bradford.

Now several batches of screencaps from the new restoration of One-Eyed Jacks. This restoration is so gorgeous that not only did I go crazy with the Ben screencaps, but I then re-watched the movie and did a bunch of screencaps from the scenes without Ben. 831 screencaps total. Not as many as when I did the screencaps from the French DVD, but still a lot. :) You can see them all in the BJ Fan Page album here: https://benjohnsonfanpage.shutterfly.com/movies/66995

Here are some samples. :)
