Pollyanna Burton v Wyman

I recently watched a UK movie of version of Pollyanna. If anything I thought it better than the more famous Hollywood verion with Jane Wyman and Hayley Mills. There were differences, the tv version was set in England, was set earlier in time and by all accounts was closer to the book.

I'm not saying the girl, who played Pollyanna was as good as Hayley Mills, but I felt Amanda Burton wiped the floor with Jane Wyman as Aunt Polly, even though the American star is one of my favorite actresses. What I liked about Burton's role was her awakening from prim and proper middle-aged woman, into something more glamorous. She's one of few British actresses, not known in America, but deserve to be. Someone even suggested Amanda be a good replacement for Judi Dench as M in the Bond movies.

Spoiler Alert

The tv movie, also had a happier ending, as Pollyanna after her accident, walked down the isle as a bridesmaid at her Aunt Polly's wedding
