I've been posting stills from movies Ben Johnson and John Wayne made together over at the Ben Johnson Fan Page this past week in conjunction with TCM's John Wayne marathon April 21-25. But although TCM's Wayne salute is now over, I have one more Wayne-related post... on Sunday or Monday I will be posting screencaps from Fort Apache. Yes, I did the whole movie. :) So herewith lots and lots of Fort Apache screencaps and I hope eventually you come visit the BJ Fan Page for more. ;)

Alas, the Fort Apache screencaps won't be posted at the Ben page today (Monday). Shutterfly has fixed what ain't broke with its uploading system and now it's going to take a little longer than expected to upload them up to the Ben page. Meanwhile I'll keep posting some here for you all to enjoy.

so marvelous, paula...proof that so many of the frames are like a work of art on their own....

I just read this rather interesting observation on Fort Apache's dynamics in Scott Eyman's JOHN WAYNE - THE LEGEND AND THE LIFE:
"Wayne's Kirby York is an adult, with an adult mind attuned to moral shades of gray. The film's tensions---between duty and impulse, between knowledge and intuition, between peace and war, between fact and legend---are a function of men in a complex situation forced to make complex decisions. Black and white is the stuff of movies, not life, and Fort Apache is unusually true to life."

ha, as i read this, i couldn't help but remember many "black-and-white" vs. "grey/gray" discussions between Rohanaka and FrankGrimes. :D

again looking over your caps...so eloquent. i got to focus on little details that escaped me in spite of countless viewings of the movie.
thank you so much, paula!! i will undoubtedly wish to use one or two of these as my FB profile images if you don't mind!!
