I caught the pilot on You Tube and thought it held up well, having seen it in the early 70s. Listening to the theme music as the Lancer brother's saw their dad's land for the first time, I thought there were bits of The Big Country running through it.
Spoiler Alert
Andrew Duggan played Murdoch Lancer, a Scottish Cattle Baron, threatened by a gunslinging bandit and his gang. So he sent for his tow sons, neither of them he had seen since they were young children. Murcoch was married twice, married above himself the first time, as he was not long of the boat from Inverness. She died and her son was raised by his grandparent's. The second wife left him taking her son with him. The second son became gunfighter Johnny Madrid, played by James Stacy, who thought his dad abandoned him when he was young. Here's a link. See if you can se if there's simsilarities to The Big Country and enjoy the brothers first meeting with their dad, whom I think they called Murdoch eventually
