This is some amazing stuff indeed! From Cawker City Museum. Radio Interview's and other recordings of Claire Windsor with Richard Lamparski. Boy, doesn't she sound just like Gloria Swanson? Her speaking voice I mean. She is asked about Valentino. Later there are photos at some Silent film convention with Colleen Moore, King Vidor, Buddy Rogers, and others. Also many wonderful portraits I have never seen before. Really rare and priceless material for the well versed Silent film fan.

And this last one is wonderful with all the lobby-cards, stills and Star references. Actors and Directors that she worked with.

I just watched Claire in The Claw, and saw why she was considered such a star of silent films. Still photos don't really show her to the best advantage. She's so slim and delicate, with mannerisms a bit like Corinne's, very fluid and graceful. She has an air of serene femininity, as if she were longing to be in a garden somewhere. Very nice. She's lovely in moving pics.
Thanks for the informative clips. I'll try to get to them sometime this week.

Hi,
Thank you for these wonderful videos of Claire Windsor.
It is nice to hear her voice again and rememberences of her from when I was a boy.
She was truly the nicest star in existence; always smiling and with impeccible manners. She remained a beautiful and glamourous lady, with luminous skin and elicited stares, even from teenagers, when out.
She was a talented painter and had a lovely singing voice. She and Ramon Novarro often sang together at parties.
I have a painting she did of me when I was 5 sitting on an ottoman.....
The Doheny Library at USC she mentions, is named after my grandmother's brother, Ned...
Thanks again, Gagman... Muchly appreciated.

Larry, That's so amazing! I had no idea you knew her. I've been diving into silents again, and find that Ms. Windsor had a presence like no one else. She seems like she had an inner beauty and grace that we just don't see nowadays.

Hi Wendy,
Glad to hear that you are enjoying Ola's movies; I have never seen any of them.
I forgot to mention that Ola was her nickname; and that she was a good friend of Corinne Griffith and Betty Blythe. I visited Corinne at her villa on Corfu in 1960 - 53 years ago this month - and Blythe & Ola were there already.
The last time I saw Ola was when I stayed with Merle Oberon for a weekend in Acapulco in 1963. Ola came for tea and we all ended up in Merle's opium bed together. Laughing, not doing anything 'untoward'!!!!

I think Jeff would love to hear about Corinne Griffith, she's his favorite. Such delicate seeming ladies, I am finding it hard to imagine them in an opium bed!

Hi Wendy,
Merle's opium bed was famous among her friends and much talked about, although not many actually got to try it out.
It was in Acapulco in her bedroom. It was a four slim-poster of teak and could be opened to form two seats at the head and foot, leaving a space in the middle where a small table could be placed. Here we drank tea or coffee from her silver service, a Maharaja's gift...
No opium was ever served.
But the mere thought of her having an opium bed made her out to be 'slightly naughty', don't you think?

Absolutely! Naughty Merle! I'd like to have one! It sounds so decadent, and it would definitely be comfortable for having tea and conversation.

I'm glad that people are enjoying the videos. Here is the latest installment.
Vecchiolarry,
I can't take creit for them. These Videos were done by a lady in Kansas who is obsessed with Claire Windsor. Must admit I've only really seen her in THE BLOT, and LITTLE CHURCH AROUND THE CORNER thus far. Other than that, just a few brief Cameo's. Would like to see more of her movies. It's wonderful that you knew her, and Corinne Griffith and Betty Blythe too? Amazing!
