When I was on my way home, between 4:30pm and 5pm, it was starting to stick. On some blocks it was slushy, and on some blocks it was powdery. There should be some more accumulation over the next few hours, then it will probably ice-up over night. It looks like the morning commute will be slippery.
That's just here in town, though. The suburbs to the north and west will probably get six or so inches of wet snow, while the coastal areas have rain mostly, plus high winds and tidal surge which could cause more flooding and destruction. There have been more evacuations in the low-lying areas because of this new storm. The Long Island Expressway has been closed due to ice and high winds.
For the past few days I've watched nothing but disaster movies, which seem to afford some emotional release.
