As I am in LA working on a project, I was able to attend a screening at the Academy and SSO Guest Stars Mary Mallory, Karie Bible, and Cari Beauchamp were there.

Here's a link to my lastest article about the event....

FYI: Last year's TCM Film Festival was March 26-29, and the final schedule was released on March 9.

On January 20, Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer were announced as special guests for the opening night screening of "The Sound of Music."

On January 23, 1919's "The Grim Game" was added to the schedule, and on January 29, special guests were announced. Then we also had small updates on more guests, screenings, and panels on 2-5, 2-11, 2-19, and 2-18.

So we are in a holding pattern....

Good Morning Christy!!

Great news about Gina Lollobrigida; I am so excited to see her. Last year, Sophia; this year Gina!!!!!!!
I have seen both of her films being shown but will enjoy another viewing.

I have never seen "Keys to the Kingdom", so that will be good.
And, the same goes for "Private Property"...

So happy you are excited about the announcement, Larry. Classic Passes have sold out 84 days before the festival. A new record! The festival will be packed!

I think they might have pulled 1960's "Private Property" with Warren Oates as it is not listed on the website announcement anymore.

Many actors have played priests like Bing Crosby in "Going My Way" and "The Belles of St. Mary's" and even Frank Sinatra in "The Miracle of the Bells." But this year's TCM Film Festival will present a screening of "The Keys of the Kingdom" (1944) with Gregory Peck, an actor known most popularly for his performance as Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird," a touchstone performance that continues to charm fans that appreciated his devotion to "doing the right thing."

Image

Peck's personal convictions and political leanings most closely aligned him with characters who were dealt difficult circumsances, adversity, and personal struggles, and his performance in "The Keys of the Kingdom" won Peck his first Oscar nomination. This year's screening will will showcase the restoration of the film, and again spotlight Peck's talent for triumphing over the insurmountable odds as a priest whose dedication to the less fortunate of this world derails any hope of ever rising through the ranks of the Catholic hierarchy.

Peck also played Monsigner O'Flaherty in the 1983 television movie "The Scarlet and The Black" as he tried to save POWs and downed Airmen from the Nazis in Rome during WWII.

More updates will be coming soon!

Sue Sue will be one of the TCM Social Producers again this year. She might be standing next to you in line for your favorite film! This year, Spotlight, Essential, and Classic passes have sold out earlier than ever before, so you might want to arrive early for your favorite "must see" choices.

Last year we had over 80 films screened, and so far only 13 have been announced.
See you in April!

My Dear Madame Applegate!!!!

I feel I must address you with the proper respect - as a Social Producer, and me a mere peasant.....

I have never seen Keys of the Kingdom" and it is one I will be viewing.
Hopefully, you will be standing beside me and we can view it together......
Also, I will be seeing "Song of Bernadette" - - after which possibly, I can be canonized!!! - not canobalized..........

Good one, Larry!

Dear Madame Social Producer:
Please let us know if people we know (like you and other attendees) will be at which events and maybe appearing on TCM, could you? I love my vicarious visits!

Someone might want to see if a copy of the powerful film produced by Gregory Peck, The Trial of the Catonsville Nine (1972), will be screened at the festival as well. The movie, featuring the fine character actor Ed Flanders as the activist Jesuit, Daniel Berrigan, and photographed by the legendary Haskell Wexler, may still stir the consciences of 21st century viewers. It was certainly indicative of the depth of Peck's desire to bring matters of spiritual and political import to film when he could present them.

You two are too cute!

Larry, I will be privileged to attend screenings with you! I think Theresa Madere Barrera wants to go with us to see The Song of Bernadette.

Moira, The Trial of the Catonsville Nine is one of my favories from that era. Good choice, and I appreciate your salient comment.

Love for TCM and Robert Osborne is in the air....waves, that is.

Tomorrow on CBS Sunday Morning, Mo Rocca visits with TCM's Host, Mr. Robert Osborne.

Here's a link to my latest article about Leonard Maltin's appearance on CBS Sunday Morning: http://www.examiner.com/article/leonard ... ay-morning

And Sylvester Stallone didn't win an Oscar. :-( But maybe he might be a special guest at the TCM Film Festival for a 40th anniversary screening of Rocky. We can give him a TCM Film Festival Award. :-)

In more news garnered from social media:

Leonard Maltin revealed at SXSW in Austin that he will be introducing at least one film...

Craig Barron and Ben Burtt will be introducing "War of the Worlds" and "It's a Wonderful Life."
The popular team of Barron and Burtt have previously presented "The Adventures of Robin Hood" and
other popular classics at previous festivals to appreciative and enthusiastic audiences.

The final schedule, usually made available on the website in PDF formatting, is traditionally made available to passholders at least three weeks before the beginning of the festival.

Since the three top-tier passes have sold out earlier than ever before in TCM Film Festival history, prepare to lineup early! :-)
