I thought both Obama and Romney were incredible classy in their speeches

Yes, they were. It was a good night.

I heard the speeches, they were good. I'm surprised the result was decided so quickly.

Is it sticking? Here in CT it's been blowing all day and snowing since 3, but it doesn't look like it's accumulating. it's cold enough though to be very icy on the roads tonight.

When I was on my way home, between 4:30pm and 5pm, it was starting to stick. On some blocks it was slushy, and on some blocks it was powdery. There should be some more accumulation over the next few hours, then it will probably ice-up over night. It looks like the morning commute will be slippery.

That's just here in town, though. The suburbs to the north and west will probably get six or so inches of wet snow, while the coastal areas have rain mostly, plus high winds and tidal surge which could cause more flooding and destruction. There have been more evacuations in the low-lying areas because of this new storm. The Long Island Expressway has been closed due to ice and high winds.

For the past few days I've watched nothing but disaster movies, which seem to afford some emotional release.

I saw that on the news here too, PT! Under the listings for closings today was a FEMA control center here in CT, closed early for the storm..... does this make sense?

Is this the End of Days...or are we really ending 2012 with some sort of bang?

Sheesh, is it the end of the year already? I just got used to writing '2012'. If this is any indication of how lucky we will be next year, I think I'd like to skip 2013.

A ray of sunshine today -- Mayor Bloomberg announced the NYC Rapid Repairs program, to assist city residents to repair their storm-damaged homes as simply and quickly as possible. Here's the press conference:

The temperatures were in the 60's here in Brooklyn's Park Slope. The playgrounds were packed, parks were full, people were strolling out & about, Nature was recovering and and...say...who put that Bloody Mary there? Well...might as well take a nice refreshing sip.
