Stephen:
Seeing your "Man From UNCLE" reminded me that in an NCIS episode I saw tonight there were two things that were noticeable. One was Nina Foch played "Ducky's" (David McCallum) mother.
In another scene someone asked Gibbs (Mark Harmon) what Ducky looked like when he was younger. Gibbs answered "Illya Kuryakin."
I love inside jokes.

So many.
THE VOICE OF FIRESTONE. THE AMERICAN ALBUM OF FAMILIAR MUSIC , THE TELEPHONE HOUR, the one sponsored by Longines. Some of these may havr been only on radio.
Lucky Strike's HIT PARADE WAS ON BOTH.
My all time favorite TOWN HALL TONIGHT with Fred Allen was radio, only I think.
We liked some sitcoms but not the cannrd laughter, CAR 54 ALL IN THE FAMILY and some British like NO. HONESTLY AND MOTHER AND SON.
My vote goes to the Hit Parade before rock and roll noise, even when it had bands like mark Warnow and Peter van Steeden especially when the band was Al Goodman .... mel

Categorized by age:
Really little - no choice except what parents watched The Hit Parade
Teenager - Dick Clark Saturday Night Show and all the Warner Bros. TV shows like Cheyenne, Bourbon Street Beat, Sugarfoot, etc.
Young married - That Girl
Middle Age - ER, The West Wing
* Through my entire adult years I was and am a devotee of the original and all spin-offs of Star Trek.
Anne
* By favorite again I assume you mean shows for fun and enjoyment, not necessarily for information like 20/20 or 60 Minutes.

I would move Pushing Daisies from eleventh place to first. Whimsical and cute. Cancelled before its time.

Re: What is Your All - Time Favorite TV Series
While not my all-time favorite TV series (meaning # 1), GOOSEBUMPS was one of my favorite TV series as a child.
I was sad to learn that the series was leaving Netflix afrer November 18.
I made sure that I watched my two favorite episodes beore then: "Night of the Living Dummy III: Part 1" and "Night of the Living Dummy III: Part 2."
These episodes feature a young Hayden Christensen, before he was cast as Anakin Skywalker in the STAR WARS prequels.

Re: What is Your All - Time Favorite TV Series
The lists so far have nailed most of what I would put in the top spots. Especially Dick van Dyke, the Bob Newhart Show, probably Star Trek (I never missed an episode when I was growing up.)
There's one show I put in a category all to itself: Green Acres. For most of its run it remained truly consistent to its premise. A Harvard law school graduate, a man of logic and rationality plops himself down in Hooverville. Here is a world completely turned upside down but with its own consistent logic and rationality. And everyone -- including Mrs. Douglas -- lives according to the ways of this world. Hilariously done.
The other show I would make mention of is "Leave it to Beaver." It gets an undeserved bad rap, I think. But watch it sometime. It's a show expertly written from a kid's point of view about messing up in life, running the risk of disappointing your parents, and continually finding out that those parents really love you and want you to grow up to be an adult.
One other thing. You can never go wrong with a show that opens with a title song that sets up the premise of the show itself. Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch, It's About Time, The Flintstones. And on and on.

I think I am of a latter day persuasion. Cheers was very funny and had a slew of characters who could deliver funny lines. Yay, cheers.
"The Murri Affair" (1974)
