AFI Top ten Fantasy Movies

The AFI has posted a list of top ten fantasy movies:

1) The Wizard of Oz
2) Lord of the Rings (one site said whole trilogy, one site said "Fellowship of the Ring.")
3) It's a Wonderful Life
4) King Kong
5) Miracle on 34th St. (1947)
6) Field of Dreams
7) Harvey
Groundhog Day
9) Thief of Bagdad (1924)
10) Big

On one site, someone was screaming that "Groundhog Day" shouldn't be considered fantasy.

Another interesting category. Here is what I come up with:

2. Peter Ibbetson
3. Ghost and Mrs Muir
4. Journey to Midnight
5. Curse of the Cat People
6. Somewhere in Time
7. On Borrowed Time
8. I Married a Witch
9. Brigadoon
10. Godzilla (old one, I loved it as a kid)

I refuse to recognize Miracle on 34th Street as a fantasy, it would mean acknowledging that Santa isn't real. I'm just not ready for that, I have to hold on to some of my childhood dreams.

Interesting that "Beetlejuice" and "Edward Scissorhands" didn't make this list.
