TCM has scheduled some additional premieres for September - the details are as follows:

Sep 29, 6 AM - Century of Animation Showcase (1923) (2023)
Sep 29, 7 AM - Walt's Early Wonderlands (1921) (2023)
Sep 29, 5:30 PM - The Ten Commandments (1923) (silent version)

These films are added as part of the National Silent Movie Day theme. The first 2 films are collections of early animation from the silent era. Last year on National Silent Movie Day, TCM showed ‘Century of Animation Showcase (1922) (2022)’, so the first film on the list above is probably an updated version of this collection. I believe the second animation collection is related to early Walt Disney cartoons, but TCM has so far provided little background information on these titles.

"....Worthwhile B movie that fails to make the most of a good idea. And both Play Misty for Me(71) and Fatal Attraction(87) reworked its premise and plot. Mark Robson's direction is economical to a fault, and the film needs more detail and development;it feels perfunctory and thin like a made-for-TV film. And the supporting characters are cardboard.

The film has some effective scenes, generates interest and suspense, though the build-up is ultimately better than the payoff. Scott Hylands is very good and convincing but, Carol White is perhaps too stoic,and she doesn't garner much sympathy for her character. The rest of the cast goes through their paces without making an impression, except for an annoying housekeeper, and "Prissy",the cat. Ultimately, the subject matter and Scott Hylands' performance are what make it worthwhile. ...

"In his review for The New York Times, film critic Mordaunt Hall called the film "a stolid and often grim picture".[14] While Hall felt the drama was not as good as some of director James Cruze's previous work, the "clever acting of the principals"—especially that of Ernest Torrence—offset some of the film's shortcomings.[14] Hall found some of the scenes "more shocking than suspenseful" and felt a broader adaptation of Max Miller's book may have been more interesting than the focus on the melodramatic series of incidents related to a sinister fisherman.[14]
While acknowledging that "Colbert does well as Julie", Hall did not find her convincing as a fisherman's daughter because she does not look the type.[14] Hall reserved his highest praise for Ernest Torrence in his final screen performance.[14] Torrence died on May 15, 1933, shortly after the film was completed. ....."

A prolog depicts the Biblical stories from Exodus: the ill-treatment of the Jews by the Egyptians; their escape across the parted water of the Red Sea; the presentation to Moses of the Ten Commandments; Moses finding the Israelites worshipping the golden calf; and his breaking of the tablets.
Main Story: The remainder of the film takes place in modern-day San Francisco. Two brothers, John and Dan McTavish, love Mary Leigh. She chooses Dan, who becomes a wealthy building contractor by using inferior materials and bribing the building inspector, Redding. This is the beginning of his downfall, ending in his death....
