Great Howard Hughes story! I thought you might be fooling but those directors' styles were as distinctive as fingerprints and it would be good to know Mr. Hughes cared enough about the final edit, such as it was.

Dear Mr. Birchard,

I am from Houston, and have lived in and around this area for quite some time, and you are definitely not the only person who feels that Howard Hughes might have lingered on longer than is generally believed. One rumor had a plane waiting for him when his flight from Mexico arrived and was bound for Phoenix, California, or Canada, depending on the "source."

(In Texas, folks usually just say Howard, or Ole' Howard and everybody
pretty much knows who it is.)

Thanks for a great story!
Sincerely,
Christy

Bob,

Thanks so much for spending the week with us! It was very generous of you to take the time to not only answer our questions but check in and respond to other threads in other forums.

I hope you will continue to do so as I think many of us would like to continue to learn from you.

Again thank you for being our Guest Star this month!

It's been fun. Thanks to everyone who participated. For those who have any interest, I write historical pieces about movies and Hollywood that appear regularly in "Statement" magazine. You can chack out a couple of them in the issues with Carla Gugino and Elizabeth Hurley on the cover at:

Click on the magazine cover, which will bring up a larger image of the magazine that you can navigate through page by page. The articles are about early director Francis Boggs and about making B Westerns.
