John Ford's early sound screenwriter, The Lost Patrol, Stagecoach, The Long Voyage Home, The Informer, was certainly one of the greats of the film industry. His only directorial effort Mouring Becomes Electra is, IMHO, very underrated. This ethnic background does not need to be discussed.

It couldn't be because he's Irish that he's so brilliant? Hee! I don't know a great deal about his career, except that I've seen his name on too many gigantically great films to be anything but impressed.
