Fan of silents who are in the neighborhood of the San Francisco Bay Area on December 12 might want to check out the Castro Theatre for the following schedule:

11:30am Chang: A Drama of the Wilderness (1927)
Produced and directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, shot in Thailand (then Siam); the story of a struggling farming family living at the edge of the jungle.

2:00pm J'Accuse (1919)
Abel Gance's war epic. This is said to be the U.S. Premiere of Gance's original cut, recently restored by Lobster Films and Nederland Filmmuseum.

7:00pm Double-bill: Sherlock Jr. (1924) with The Goat (1921)
Buster Keaton's homage to cinema

9:15pm West of Zanzibar (1928)
Tod Browning again directs Lon Chaney in this dark tale of redemption.

Looks like a great marathon!
