Thank you, Eric, for posting this wonderful re-experiencing. It's the best ten minutes I've spent in years!

Hal Wallis was right. I saw the film nearly seventy years ago and that gate closing ending is still locked in my memory (along with the fun they had sitting in trees and shouting at each other).

The great thing about film, recognized early on, is it's preservation of performances that used to be lost. If only they could have anticipated future interest in the "backstage" material as well. We might have an entire "That's Entertainment" series devoted to the fascinating lost secrets of filming the classics.

I guess we should be thankful for people like Rudy Behlmer who work to reclaim what is available. And to people like you who share their discoveries with us, as well. So, thank you, again.
