I am most happy about this one being on the sched. Now to get TCM to show Zero de Conduite and A Propos de Nice.

Let's see...some words that come to mind: Masterpiece. Brilliant. Best French film ever made (maybe not, but close enough for government work).

SIMON OF THE DESERT and MASTER OF THE HOUSE should not be missed.

Amazing to think that Dreyer, by 1925 when MASTER OF THE HOUSE was released, was at the half-way point in his career. He had made seven features, starting in 1919, up to then. After 1925, he directed only seven more feature films, the last being in 1964...and five of those are among the finest films ever made in my view. He's second only to Welles in my Directors Pantheon.

Good one! I usually do like Borzage.

This one is quirky but if you can let it wash over you, you'll never forget certain moments in this film. I'm so glad that you'll be seeing this on TCM since most prints are far poorer than the one they have shown in the past.
