Absolutely! It's a gift I tell ya! One of the reasons I love the boards so much is how each person who posts has a gift or a way of seeing a film that is different. I like that we are able to bring different perspectives to the table. T is able to literally make me view a film all over again, I can see the scenes she describes in my head and spot the deeper meanings or sociology behind what is happening when I read her posts. She's a people person, even when it comes to movies, and this is always interesting to me - how she can pit two characters (even from different films) against one another and make us see their differences and their similarities.

I just finished watching Cinerama that I recorded off my DVR and I loved every second of it ... I wished movies were made this way today ... It would open a new experience for everybody that loves movies. Did anyone had a chance to see it?

Concerning the two Billy Wilder/Mitchell Leisen collaborations: Midnight feels like a Mitchell Leisen film with a Billy Wilder script. Hold Back the Dawn feels like a Billy Wilder film directed by Mitchell Leisen. Part of the difference is the very personal nature of the script for Dawn, perhaps Wilder's most personal, for he was an immigrant to this country and he had spent time as a dancer, "lifting ladies with lifted faces round the floor," to quote a Cole Porter song.

Part of the difference is the approach to mixing genres. Leisen in Midnight or in the non-Wilder Remember the Night is like a painter who carefully blends his colors so that the transitions are smooth. Wilder simply puts the different colors on the canvas, with less concern about the changes in mood.

Beautifully put Kingrat. I am an admirer of both Leisen and Wilder, and the three films mentioned are special favorites of mine, particularly "Midnight".

Oh no Wendy. Sorry if I misled you. I saw "The Lovers" as I gorged myself on last weekend's HULU smorgasbordy binge.

I had a HULU'v a weekend. I saw:

"Love Goddesses"
"The Haunted Strangler"
"Red"
"White"
"Blue"
"The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant" ( 2/3 of it )
"Voyage to Italy" ( why dub those two great voices! )

...and ended my evening with Moreau - "The Lovers."

And I am now to get a Swiffer picker-upper and the Isleys' music. ( Ugh!!! Those bloody commercials nearly killed me. )

It was Italy, Theresa. They dubbed everybody, even Italians. I got two Italian movies from the fifties this week, and in the booklet after each actor's name they also name the dubber! Still a great movie. I can't wait to see it again in May. And a great weekend. Of the three colors, I like White best. 1) Julie Delpy, and 2) it's funny! Remind me to tell you two funny stories about the Lovers.

They dubbed everybody. Even Italians. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Wish I had time to see "Purple Moon" the talented Mr. Ripley story. Hmmm Delon.

"BLUE" resonates the most as a story, but I love Irene Jacob. Awww heck, I'm up in the air about all three colors. Binoche, Jacob and Delpy. All three, distinct. I'm likin' Kieslowski - how he weaves a tale and adds those cute coincidences. And works with actresses.
