I wish Encore Westerns would move on

There is very little to discuss lately because Encore Westerns has been almost 90% re-re-repeats. When the do show a premier (for their channel), it's usually either an Italian or Australian film, which are a little to blood thirsty for me.

I have to say I like their new programming schedule, ie. movies from early morning to noon, then old western series, and again movies from primetime to early morning. This lets me record in the a.m. while I'm doing housework, and relax in the afternoon during the series I've already seen.

I'm with you. I've been quite disappointed in the movies they have shown recently. I wouldn't mind the Italian films if they were any good. I'm usually not around to see the series listed but they look fine. There must be more than Gene Autry and Lee van Cleef to show.

However, I am looking forward to the Tim Holt marathon coming up in February. I have seen some of the movies listed, but not all, but I like him anyway and will be there to enjoy.

Every time I click to this channel to see whether there is a good Western Movie to watch ...

One Movie always shows up (and its drive me bananas) ...

It's "They Came to Cordura" ... Starring Gary Cooper and Rita Hayworth and Company ... and I ended up watching something else instead. And, this happen to me 5 out of 8 times when I check out this channel. And, I have the DVD of this movie too.

I for one ... I agree with this thread title ... I wish Encore Westerns would move on.

Gosh darn it -- this is exactly why I LOVE this site. Thankee for the link to the website. Always a huge Tim Holt fan. Heck, even enjoyed him in THE MONSTER THAT CHALLENGED THE WORLD.

Great stuff, Wendy! Thanks for the link. Nice to have a remembrance of Jack Holt, who, as active as he was back in the 30s, has sadly become pretty much forgotten today.

Please -- someone invent a time machine!

If they don't show it, I have a copy I transferred from VHS. It's one of Tim's all time best, and I'd be happy to share it.

Oh man, Wendy -- a total gem!

Interesting, isn`t it, how cartoon caricatures of today`s so-called stars lack the animation magic.

But then those celebs had character.
