I still see smoking warnings as part of the MPAA ratings, and the TV equivalent. I know there was a push at one time to make anything that depicted smoking an automatic "R" or "M" rating.
I wouldn't necessarily mind a warning about animals being hurt/killed onscreen, especially if it's genuine bloodshed, as was often the case in European films of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
