Poor Millie. I wonder what she'll do with herself now?
(...saaay, maybe Svengoolie will have an opening for her over on his show)

Strange that they single out De Chirico since "weird movie to play when people stumble home from bars" theater has been a TBS, TNT, TCM staple since the late-80s (Man, did they ever love The Manitou...), and only got the "Underground" label in the very early '00s when Rob Zombie was hosting and she was probably still in college...
I guess maybe they feel guilty since they're still selling her book

I wonder what they're thinking of putting in that time slot that they think would get more ratings. TCM Underground was simply on too late for me.

I always enjoyed the low budget 1950's-1960's films when they aired. Some of them are quite good. SISTERS and HE KNOWS YOU'RE ALONE are good examples of 1970s-1980s cult-ish films.
PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE is a fitting swansong.

This was predictable. They let Millie go a few days before Christmas 2022.

Makes me wonder what's next? Is TCM on shaky ground?
I don't think the people who current own TCM care about it one bit.

Sad but expected news.
I haven't had the channel for some time, so it won't impact me at all, but I certainly looked forward to seeing what was being shown each week.
As I've stated elsewhere, I was aware of, and had seen, the vast majority of the TCM Underground offerings before, but there was one that I had not, and it became a "so-bad-it's-great" favorite of mine: 1977's Another Son of Sam.
I think it was where I saw Never Too Young to Die (1986) for the first time, too.
There's a list of every film shown on TCM Underground over on Letterboxd.com:
https://letterboxd.com/tcm_lb/list/tcm-underground-1/
I plan on tracking down and seeing the few I've missed.
Watching until the end.

D.O.A. is better than about 85% of the flicks she showed.

Re: 'TCM Underground' is DOA
Expected after Millie was let go. Looking over that Letterboxd list, I have seen 51 films of the ones that have aired in that timeslot over the years, but I think I only saw 13 of those in the Underground programming block itself (the others were either in other timeslots on TCM, streaming, or DVDs).
it always seemed vulnerable since it was mostly unlike the rest of the channel, and also because it was the only special programming block without an onscreen host (at least since Rob Zombie stepped down)

Ha. Truth. I don’t think I will miss turning on TCM at 2 AM and getting Divine’s naked cellulite man butt staring back at me.
