"Stumbling into a temperance meeting, taxidermist Elmer J. Butts (Buster Keaton) takes one look at a gangster's beautiful moll and falls in love. With the insistence of his friend Jimmy Potts (Jimmy Durante), Elmer agrees to sink $10,000 of his savings into a beer factory near the end of Prohibition. Elmer's naive logic tells him that the profits from their fledgling beer empire will give him enough money to woo his dream girl.
As might be expected in a production featuring silent film great Keaton and Durante, What! No Beer? (1933) is comprised of copious pratfalls and physical comedy as the pair of enterprising moonshiners encounter overzealous cops intent on shutting them down, gangsters trying to seize control of their profitable business and myriad disasters, from lousy beer to rivers of foam.......

I watched this with my father. He didn’t laugh once and said Jimmy Durante was loud and obnoxious.

sadly, gotta agree here.
from what I saw , Keaton's performance was BOTH apathetic & pathetic,
with Durante (as usual) being "loud and obnoxious"

Yesterday, I noticed an abundance of posts on twitter about the demise of TCM (as we know it). TCM exists in Britain as a station that shows old very cheap films with commercials and no guest commentary. It is really rubbish.

Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Paul Thomas Anderson have organized an emergency call to David Zaslav that will take place today to advocate for saving one of the greatest brands in cinephilia, TCM.
Thanks for highlighting this Universal film. TCM showing "B" picture, short running (64 minutes), Universal films is unusual (especially since it isn't October). I hope this trend continues. Maybe the future at TCM isn't as bleak as projected.
Any film with an actresses nicknamed "The Venezuelan Volcano" has to be worth seeing.
