Penguin Pool Murder

Post by Ayres »

(Possible Spoilers)

This doesn't exactly come under the romantic comedy heading, but I wondered if anyone could answer this. Last night my husband and I watched Penguin Pool Murder and enjoyed the repartee between Edna May Oliver and James Gleason (I just love him!) We were startled by the fact that he proposed to her at the end, and they ran off to the marriage license bureau. They weren't married in the subsequent entries of the Hildegarde Withers-Oscar Piper series, were they?

I don't think they were married. After Edna May Oliver left RKO for MGM. Hildegarde was played by Helen Broderick and then Zazu Pitts.

Penguin Pool Murder (1932)
Murder on the Blackboard (1934)
Murder on a Honeymoon (1935)
Murder on a Bridle Path (1936)
The Plot Thickens (1936)
Forty Naughty Girls (1937)

Love to see these on a Box-Set.
