Re: Combining yesterday and today

Probably not exactly what you have in mind, but:

The film TARGETS shows clips from Boris Karloff films "The Terror" and "The Criminal Code".

MADHOUSE shows clips from some of Vincent Price's earlier AIP films.

Re: CANDIDS II

Hey Joe, besides a happy birthday to my pal Georgie, just want to let you and others know that according to Raft himself, he was born in 1895 and not 1901, which somehow has become accepted. As proof, take a look at this last TV interview George ever gave, as co-host of the Mike Douglas program. He ...

Re: This week on SVENGOOLIE...

I'm with ya, R.R. MONSTER ON THE CAMPUS gets such a bad rap but I confess it's one of my favorite U-I sci-fi's. Might even have featured John Agar in the role of the professor-turned-neanderthal had Agar re-signed his Universal contract.

Well, yes, I see your point. But professionally he might just have wanted to get a head in the game . . .

Re: What recent films have you seen?

Oh yeah, LIONS FOR LAMBS was a major misstep in the Redford canon. But overall Redford and Eastwood still deliver the goods.

Re: What recent films have you seen?

You know Moira, having seen the trailer again today I'm not quite sure of its merits. But when there aren't a lot of choices out there, you go for what looks the most inviting. And for better or for worst, A WALK IN THE WOODS , to me and my missus at least, looks the most entertaining of the current...

Re: What recent films have you seen?

Thanks people for your comments on these recent releases. I must confess that nothing currently playing at the cinema really excites me. Certainly not enough to spend the exorbitant costs on tickets and jumbo popcorn and beverage. The last film I saw in a theater was HEAVEN IS REAL - nothing spectac...

And I'd just like to acknowledge the birthday of my friend Lloyd Nolan, whom I recognized as Hollywood's Nicest Tough Guy.

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare

Very true, R.R. In only two scenes Coleen definitely makes an impression and with those qualities you mention. Incidentally, Coleen said that it was unfair that she received second billing in THE KILLING as she felt it was Marie Windsor who was the true female star and who pretty much stole the show.

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare

I am deeply saddened to report the passing of one of the kindest, sweetest people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. The wonderful Coleen Gray passed away today. I can truly she she was every bit as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside (despite what she said about herself to Sterling H...

Re: This week on SVENGOOLIE...

Erik, if you've never before seen THE RAVEN I recommend it highly. It's fast-moving, over-the-top, high camp fun with one of Bela's most enjoyable performances. Within the short running time Bela transforms from romantic if slightly obsessed surgeon into a full-blown psycho sadist. And it also showc...

Re: CANDIDS II

Thanks for those updated photos or Mr. Fuller and Mr. Horton, Joe. Heck, seems like yesterday I was watching a dark-haired Robert Fuller on TV's "Emergency!" Nevertheless he is still distinguished in his senior years . . . and - wow! - at 91 Robert Horton still has managed to retain his bo...

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare

Alex Rocco has passed. A talented, versatile actor with many credits but who will perhaps remain best known for his role as the Bugsy Siegel-inspired Vegas mobster Moe Greene in THE GODFATHER . A small part but he left a vivid impression. Like my guy George Raft, Rocco apparently also had some early...
