Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Debbie seemed to be incredibly busy from the mid 50s through the mid 60s. She seems to have made 3 films per year, or at least two! She loved to work. And when deadbeat hubby Harry Karl died, leaving her with massive debt, Debbie worked even harder. Not the best taste in men (as Carrie revealed in ...

Re: I Just Watched...
JAGGED EDGE -- annoying '80's courtroom thriller with Glenn Close as possibly the world's dumbest lawyer. The obnoxiously manipulative script tries to "liven" things up with foul-mouthed Robert Loggia but only falls flat. THE AFFAIRS OF DOBIE GILLIS -- Poorly directed, sluggishly paced, ra...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Holden, I have to agree with Hibi that from an objective viewpoint GOODBYE CHARLIE isn't that "good" if one wants to, well, lump it in with several sex comedies of the '60's that attempt to push the envelope in terms of male and female relationships, but for me (speaking subjectively of co...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I'm pretty sure that whoever is hosting GOODBYE CHARLIE will put a p.c. apologist spin on it during the intro and/or outro.
So be prepared but relaxed, lol.

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I'll remind everyone again about GOODBYE, CHARLIE before it airs Thursday, March 28th. I just love Charlie's mid (Twentieth Century) modern Malibu bachelor beach pad. Also mad about GOODBYE, CHARLIE'S opening. I defy anyone not to get up and start bopping about furiously during the "Seven at On...

Dargo.....is it THE GIFT OF GAB? I can't think of any 9 year old cast member....and the comedian who did a great Peter Falk impression.....
I need some Advil.

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Heads-up for Debbie's lovely dramatic performance this evening: THE CATERED AFFAIR. Hunky Rod Taylor (or as everyone in the movie refers to him: "the boy with the glasses") is her sweetheart. We never had anyone like Rod in my old Bronx neighborhood....all the guys looked like Nick Adams.

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Can anyone connect Anna Paquin to Bela Lugosi in 6 or less steps without using the oracle app? Holden, because my curiosity got the better of me and so have just used it to do just this (but don't worry, I won't make the answer it gave me known here) I have to say the names of the connections used ...

Re: Noir Alley
Faith was kind of bug-eyed, which I always felt suited her well in the horror/sci-fi genres. (THIS ISLAND EARTH, CULT OF THE COBRA, etc.) Yes, true!!! They were sort of blank too. Kind of a deer in the headlights look. Wonder if she was myopic? Guess we'll never know. I read that Susan Hayward was ...

I know, right? For all their (obnoxious, imo) progressive direction, TCM remains amusingly square, lol.
