Red Hair (1928) (The first reel was in two-strip Technicolor, the only color footage ever shot of Clara) I saw the two-strip fragments from Red Hair a couple of years back at the SF Silent Film Fest. It was great to see. Count me firmly in the pro-Clara camp. I'd really like to see Ladies of the Mo...

Larry

What an absolutely fabulous story! Poor Mae, I wonder if she was as nuts as she's come down to be through history and lore?

Wow, what a stunner! I've never been a huge Harlow fan, but in those pics, it's much more about the spirit & energy that radiates through her flesh, than the exposure of the flesh itself. And what gorgeous photography! You're so right. What is so appealing in these shots to me, how utterly natu...

Jeez, how the heck did I miss this? :(

Monty Clift, rowr.....

The photo of Marilyn is haunting. I agree with CCF, she rarely took a bad photo. To me, in most, she's lit by some interior incadescent light. Enthralling and vulnerable.

Yes, Rudy certainly took care of his physique.

Oh, btw CCF, I have a great candid shot of Mr. V and Mr. C that will be in my forthcoming book that's been previously unpublished (as far as I know).

Count me in as another fan of Dark Passage. The photo of Vincent Parry in the newspaper is Delmer Daves, correct? I remember reading that somewhere. Being a resident of SF, I love all films set in the city. One of the California Street Cable Cars bears a legend on the inner roof, to the effect "...

Hi, Love the Rudy pearl costume..... Now, how do you sit down in that? Wouldn't all those pearls hurt the posterior position? Not to mention the pock marks they'd leave in one's gluttious maximus... Rudy was surely a better man than me!!! Larry Heh, Larry, I've never seen the backside of this costu...

Gary getting ready for the bathing scene in Wolf Song (1929). This film is lost, unfortunately. :( http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t163/coopsgirl_30/WolfSong-1.jpg I will need to check, but I am 99.9% certain I saw most of Wolf Song at a Cinecon some years back. As I recall, it was from 16mm and...
