I don't know if it's "the best," but Morricone's score from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is without question the most iconic.

That's also a favorite of mine, one of those that I'll pick up in the middle if I catch it on TV. Stewart's prayer at the dinner table is one of my favorite movie moments.

I could do without Doug McClure though.

Re: what the...

I've given up on the TCM boards for good I think. It's a shame and a pity they dissolved into total and utter crap (can I say that word around here?) We have no firm rules as yet, but the feeling is that if you can say it on TV (network TV, not Deadwood ) it's probably ok. We may need to modify it ...

Re: All Pharaoh in Love & Words

I know: silly, silly, silly! The TCM Admins have virtually no responsibility for the all the turmoil & grief on their Message Boards. I strongly disagree with this. I place the blame totally on the TCM Admins. If a cockroach or two finds its way into your kitchen, it's not your fault. If you do...

It's taken me a bit to get back to this, for which I apologize. Between work, having wisdom teeth removed (ouch!) and dealing with help issues, I've been pretty busy. So here's what we have so far (ignoring most of ken's suggestions) along with my suggestions. Please let me know what you think.: Peo...

I have the O'Brien book which was released first. It's a decent read, although people i respect have claimed that it's the lesser of the two. I'll pick up the other one eventually. Kay was soooooo sexy, and was the kind of smart, independent woman that just makes me go crazy. I like everything about...

Come on, I confessed to reading Edgar Rice Burroughs. That's hardly intellectual (although he did have a very dry sense of humor).

How do I get one of those cool avatars? Is there a gallery or should I make my own? Thanks again! There isn't a gallery, but you can make your own or ask Pktrekgirl to do it for you. She's been very helpful with that to those who have asked for it (and it gives her a chance to show off her mad Phot...

That's such a great movie. "20th Century" gets noticed more, but I think CAL is John Barrymore's finest role.

I usually have a couple going at once. Right now they are "Tanar of Pellucidar" by Edgar Rice Burroughs, and "The Speed of Sound: Hollywood and the Talkie Revolution, 1926-1930" by Scott Eyeman.

Can I continue my Gallery of Characters daily birthdays here? I'm and finding that doing the research is very entertaining and informative for me, and the folks on the "other" board seem to like it, but I don't want to gum up the works with lots of graphics and such if you think it's inad...

For those who don't want to register, this link provides usernames and passwords for most non-pay sites that require registration. I'm with the critics who felt that it might have been a fairer trial to have done this in the evening, when people aren't as rushed. Telling the boss you were late becau...

But when I think about modern movies, such films as Benny & Joon , Road To Perdition , and About A Boy come instantly to mind. I agree about the first two, but I didn't like "About a Boy." I like Nick Hornby's writing, and much preferred "High Fidelity" as a faithful adaptat...

Dangerous Curves (1929)

I watched this 1929 Clara Bow talkie last night. Made just a couple of months after her sound debut in "The Wild Party," which I believe has been shown on TCM, it's as different from its stodgy predecessor as fudge from tuna casserole. Bow was terrified of the talkies, but this movie shows...
